The Chicago Tribune Rives a list of the wealthiest men in the United States, showing how the financiers, by leaving the balk of their estates to eldest sons, concentrate the wealth of the coon try. The Tribune shows the present wealth of the richest men to be as follows: Property value. John D. Rockefeller « Andrew OarneRle 300.000,000 W. W. Astor iro.ooo.ooo Ji J. Astor 12r>.000,000 W. K. If their holdings continue to increase, the Tribune says that if in 1953 the ten men managing these properties should wtfnt to sell out for cash the mints would have to work overtime and the presses must go at lightning speed to make up the balance. End of Bitter Fight. "Two physicians had a long and stub born fight with an abcees on my right lung," writes J. F. Hughes, of' DuPont, Ga., "and gave me up. Everybody thought my time had come. As a last resort I tried Dr. King's New Discovery for Consumption. The benefit I re ceived was striking and I was on my feet in a few days. Now I've entirely regained my health." It conquers all Coughs, Colds and Throat and Lung troubles. Guaranteed by Julia A. Story, McHenry and G. W. Besley, W. McHenry, druggists. Price 50c and $1.00. Trial bottles free. Ewitig, a practicing physi cian of Smith's Grove, Ky., for over thirty years, writes his personal exper ience with Foley's Kidney Cure: "For years I had been greatly bothered with kidney and bladder trouble and en larged prostrate gland. I used every thing known to the profession without relief, until I commenced to use Foley's Kidney Cure. After taking three bot tles I was entirely relieved and cured. I prescribe it now daily in my practice and heartily recommend its use to all physicians for snch troubles. I have prescribed it in hundreds of cases with perfect success." Sold by N. H. Pet- each. Sept. 6 Dysentery Cared Without the Aid of a Doctor. "I am just up from a hard spell of the flux," (dysentery) says Mr. T. A. Pinner, a well known merchant of Drummond, Tenn. "I used one small bottle of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy and was cured without having a doctor. I consider it the best cholera medicine in the world." There is no need of employing a doctor when this remedy is used, for no doctor can prescribe a better medicine for bow el complaint in any form either for children or adults. It never fails and is pleasant to take. For sale by all druggists. The great McHenry County Fair next week. Will you attend? I have a lar^e stock of fine watermel ons at 25, 30 and 85 cents. John Stoffel, West McHenrv. Several hundred bushels of cucum bers have been received at the pickle factory this week. It is pleasing to note that during the past week a portion of the weed crop has been harvested. Thanks--do it some more. F. C. Going will soon move into the Van Slyke house on the east side. Win. Garrison will occupy the Thean cottage west of the railroad, on Waugegun street. • A dance was givetKat Stoffel's hail last Satufday evening by a few of the enthusiasts. TLere were not many present, btit enough to make it a pleas ant social affair. L. H. Owen, who is in the hardware business at Cushing, Oklahoma, is evi dently striking it rich and is there to stay. He is now greeting a commodious brick store building. John Brents has rolled up his sleeves and is making the dust fly at the school house. Before the first day of school the building will be as clean as any par- lpr, from basement to roof. S. Reynolds received the first lot of new winter wheat at the mill yester day. It was raised on the Johnsburgh prairie and was of an excellent quality, testing sixty-one pounds t& th*! bushel. A good showing. School opens two weeks from Mon day next, September 7. We will have more to say on this subject next week, and are particularly desirous of getting the attention of parents who have chil dren of school age. In the ball game last Saturday the thumb on John Knox's right hand was split open, probably putting him out of the game for the rest of the season. His hand is now badly swollen, making it impossible for him to work. O. N. Owen received this week a box of peaches from Asher, Oklahoma, shipped by)(3. C. Chapell. They were fine specimens, averaging nine inches in circumference. In flavor they are far ahead of the California product. The Lake Geneva "flyer" which ar rives at McHenry at 4:42 p. m., making the trip from Chicago in sixty minutes, was one hour and fifteen minutes late Monday evening, owing to a defective cylinder. It is very seldom that ihis train is late, more frequently being ahead of time. The 50th annual fair of Lake county will be held at Libertyville, September 1, 2, 3 and 4. Great preparations have been made in the effort to make it the best in the history of the county. The officers are W. E. Miller, president; O. E. Churchill, secretary; E. W. Park- hurst, treasurer. The apple crop in McHenry county will amount to almost nothing this year as is the case throughout this section of the country. Crab apples will be worth about four dollars each, more or less, and the supply is limited at that price. Last season they were allowed to rot on the ground. Geo. Nell will give a dance at his Co lumbia Park pavilion Saturday evening of this week and every Saturday during the balance of the season. Scbaefer's Johnsburgh orchestra will furnish the music. Dance tickets are fifty cents. Those who have attended Mr. Nell's dances were well pleased. Wm. Bell's sidewalk gang is here and the new walks will soon materialize. The work thus far has been slow how ever owing to the scarcity of teamsters. The walk from Dr. Wells' corner north will be put in first. This stretch will need about eighteen inches filling in some places to bring the walk up to a level with the road. The most wonderful temple In tbt world Is built on a rocking stone on the summit of a mountain in northern India which is over 20,000 feet high. The rock weighs many thousands of tons, but is balanced on so fine a point that a comparativê light pressure la sufficient to make it sway. Hindoo priests teach their followers that this rock was placed in position by the help of the gods, and thus they add consid erably to the feeling of awe which tbejr desire to create. Worshipers at this shrine must first make a perilous ascent of the moun tain. Then they spend seven days of preparation in a temple built on the solid mountain before ,they are permit ted to make the final passage to the mysterious rocking stone. To peach this it is necessary to cross a bridge over a great chasm, for nature and man have combined to make this Hin doo shrine difficult of access. After crossing the bridge the pilgrim mounts a ladder, to which he clings in terror for his life here and in the hereafter. The temple on the rock is necessarily small. Three priests officiate there, but its mysteries no man is permitted to reveal. Europeans have seen it only from a distance. Miss Rosina Reynolds, - day operator at the central telephone office, was un doubtedly the busiest operator in the employ of the company Monday. She handled eighty-two toll calls besides the nnmerous local calls, breaking all prev ious records. The unusual number of tolls was due to the many inquiries re garding the railroad wreck at Long Lake. The river continued to rise all last week and at present is too high for the piers built this spring. The mill pond reached the limit Saturday night and the flood gates were thrown wide open, resulting in the washing out of tons of weeds, leaving the watei* the cleanest it has been in months. The weeds are ap parently all loose, the rising water hay ing torn the roots from the soft soil. The North Western Railroad Com pany has finally made an improvement at the depot for the comfort of the thousands of patrons who board the trains here during the summer oonths. An additional platform has been built north of the depot. This should be ap preciated. It will be noticed that the platform stands about two feet above the ground, thus affording ample shelter for the Sunday and holiday crowds in case of rain. CASTOR IA For Infants and Children, Tie Kind You Have Always Bought Bears the SIT- - ... Tkc Haaua B*4f. The blood, muscles, bones and otbec parts of the human body are composed of many chemical constituents, and a correct chemical analysis would be long and tedious. The specific gravity of the blood is 1,028, and 779 parts of every 1,000 are water. Of the other parts chloride of sodium, chloride po tassium, carbonate magnesia, calcium phosphate, calcium lactate, potassium phosphate, sodium carbonate and other constituents are found. This is gen erally true, with variations also, of tissues and bone. The fundamental substance of bone is composed of or ganic matter, combined with various Inorganic salts, in which calcium phos phate largely predominates. In addi tion the bones contain calcium carbon ate, calcium fluoride, magnesium phos phate, sodium phosphate and sodium chloride. Suicide Prevented. The startling announcement that- a preventive of suicide had been discovered will interest many. A run down sys tem, or despondency invariably precede suicide and something has been found that will prevent that condition which makes suicide likely.
