Having closed his business (iottlieb Boley will sell at public auction on Thursday, in Lansing's block, all the furniture and fixings of his saloon, con sisting of chairs, tables, pictures, lamps, etc. Some individual or individuals, who hml not the tear of tiod before their eyes, and whose carcase could not have tjeen possessed of one particle of mail* nood, took occasion one night last week, for some fancied wrong, to commit a uuisuuee on and about the shop of R. Wane, of the Central market. Now we dislike very much to know that we have in our midst anybody who would stoop to do so low au act, no matter what the fancied or real .wrong may be. Open antagonism we respect, but this ' staD in the dark" policy, that will de stroy and deface a man's property in the night, is one that cannot be too severe ly condemned by all right minded citi- zeUs. If the perpetrators of this out rage could be caught they would learn, if they do not already know, that the law is severe on all such as they. EXCHANGE GLEANINGS. Standing an Kkb 011 End. Any fresh egg can, without being boiled, be balanced on either end by any one possessing patience and a steady hand. In order to save time the egg should be placed for a short time on the end upon which it is desired to balance it, so as to allow the yolk to settle; then both forearms of the person making the experiment should be rested on the edge of the table and the egg should be taken between the three fingers and thumbs of both bands and slowly turn ed around until the center of gravity is found. This experiment may at first require a little time, but after a little practice it will be found very easy to da It would be well to try it first on the tablecloth and then on the bottom of a plate. It is conceded, of course, that the present century is far more advanced than that of Columbus, so It is only to be expected that different ideas should have been formed, even as to the bal ancing of eggs. a Sure Thing. It is said that nothing is sure except death and taxes, but that is not al together trne. Dr. King's New Dis covery for Consumption is a sure cure for all throat and lung •roubles. It is not necessary in these days to defend the claim of the dance to a place among the arts. As soon as we have got rid of the Puritan prejudice on the point (and one may hope that this no longer exists for the intelligent part of the population) the claim is too overwhelming to need apology, for if we take art to mean the production of beauty then the case only needs stating to be conceded, while if we understand it as self expression in some concrete form we shall find that the dance which is a kind of fusion of music, painting and sculpture, is pre-eminent ly capable of giving expression beyond the possibility of words to the basic, and therefore largely Inarticulate, parts of our nature--the hunger of the spirit and the Joy of life.--London Outlook. '1 lit; Oi Foley & Co., Chicago, originated Honey and Tar as a throat and lung remedy, and on account of . the great merit and popularity of Foley's Honey and Tar many imitations are offered for the genuine. Ask for FOLEY'S Honey and Tar and refuse any substi tute offered, as no other preparation will give the same satisfaction. It is mildly laxative. It contains no opiates and is safest for children and delicat e persons. Happentega In McHenry aart Adjacent Counties. Lake Geneva will build a school house at a total cost of about $40,000. Wm.
