Melicarr Orwim Piny Vwy Vwt Game and Win the Admiration of Ail Who Saw th» Oame-Cliicsgo Ne*t, Tie McHenry Greens have at last straek their trne gait, which was prov en beyond all donbt last Sunday after noon at tho baseball park, when they succeeded in defeating one of the fast est teams of McHenry connty. The day was a very warm one for baseball, and it seemed that the paying, "the warmer the sun shines the better we like it," is fittingly attached to the Greens, who last Sunday "put up one of the best games of ball ever witnessed in oor village. The opposing team, the Harvard White Stars, were exactly the kind of a team we advertised them to be, and were, each and every one of them, true ball players. At the close of the second inning it looked as if Mc Henry was up againstlT. The story of the game was something like this: In the first inning there was no scoring; second inning- Harvard scored twice and secured one hit, two errors and a pass to first, on account of hit bj pitched ball. In the third round some thing happened, and when the crowd of spectators came back to earth they found the boys in Green credited with -leven hits and eight runs. Harvard did nothing in their half of the third, not even getting a man to first. The fourth netted Harvard one run, John- son succeeding in making a complete round of the bases on a clean drive out over left field. McHenry scored their last run in the fifth on a home run by Evanson. Their was nothing doing on the scoreboard from the fifth to the ninth, when Harvard scored on a double by Hill, followed by a neat single by Hayes. But this was their limit. The score stood 9 to 4. in the Greens' favor, at the end of the first half of the ninth, and the crowd went home more than satisfied with the excellent showing made by the Greens. Chicago Pastimes next. ' McHenry's outfield last Sunday was perfect. That old-timer of Evannon's won the applause of the crowd. Tjvelve hits for the Greens. They are certainly finding the ball good and plenty. The Greens deserve better patronage. Last Sunday's gate receipts did not cov er expenses' The Harvard team was composed of a lot of gentlemen. They are always welcome in McHenry. Hill, the Harvard left-fielder, easily won the batting honore here Sunday, getting three two-base hits out of five times at bat. The Woodstock Beds were again bumped by Gleason's team at Elgin Sunday, by the score ot 10 to 0. We fear that the Reds are pacing with too swift teams. The Chicago Pastimtes, who play the McHenry Greens here next Sunday, were victorious over the Hamlet, Ind., team last Sunday, the score being 7 to 5, but it took twelve innings to do it Be sure and turn out next Sunday. They will be here, surely. The Ringwood aggregation of ball Ltossers went to Johnsburgh last Sunday to play the Johnsburgh Grays, but as to whether they played ball or not re mains to be seen. The score would seem to indicate that they did not. It was: Johsnburgh, 30; Ringwood, 0. " Oh! Fudge! " . All players should bear in mind that the regular practice takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings of each week. Those failing to appear at reg ular practice will be "benched on the following Sunday. Please bear this in mind. No one can play ball without practice. GAME NEXT SUNDAY. Next Sunday, Jnne 11, the McHenry Greens will go up against the Chicago Pastimes, one of the best amateur teams of the windy city. The Pastimes are playing the best kind of ball and will try bard to win next Sunday. The Greens are also playing the game, and an interesting contest may be looked for. Everybody turn out and help the Greens in their efforts to get such games played here. The McHenry Base ball association has gone to a great deal of expense to get this game and a large at tendance at the game next Sunday will be heartily appreciated. In a letter the manager of the club stated that the team will be accompanied to McHenry by ft large nnmber of rooters. T. M., Chi-, July 3 Firtw^l] Surprise. liMt Wednesday evening was the oc casion of a very pleasant farewell sur prise at the home of Mr. Osmun. Dur ing the family's stay in McHenry they have taken an active part in church cir cles. At their request the prayer meet ing was held at their home the evening before they intended loading their car. There was an unusaally large number in attendance at the meeting and at its close the pastor said: "If you people have no objections we should like to be allowed to remain a while longer." Aft er spending some time in social games, as a token of the esteem in which Mr. Osmun and family are held by the Ba- raca class and members of the church, they were presented with several choice books. Shortly after ice cream and cake were served, and at a late hour the guests departed, wishing them prosper ity and happiness in their new home in Nunda. Jnst What Everyone Should Do. Mr. J. T. I keep a bottle of it in my room as I have had several attacks Of colic and it has proved to be the best medicine I ever saw," Sold by all druggists. How About the Fourth? Is McHenry going to celebrate the Fourth of July this jear, or not? This is the question thaf is now confronting the citizens and business men of Mc Henry. If we are to celebrate why not get together at once? The month is passing rapidly and action should be taken at once. Will some of oar enter prising business men start the ball rolling? The manager Of the McHenry baseball team has already scheduled a game with one of the best amateur teams in Illinois to play the Greens on the afternoon of this day, and promises two hours or more of high class enter tainment. There is no reason why we should Dot celebrate'this year, .i A Bad Scare. Some day you will get- a bad scare, when you feel a pain in your bowels, and fear appendicitis. U. 8, soldiers who served in Chubs during the Spanish war know what this disease is, and that ordinary remedies have little more effect than so much water. Cuban diarrhoea is almost as severe and dangerous as a mild at tack of cholera. There is one remedy, however, that can always be depended on, as Will be seen by the following cer tificate from Mrs. Minnie. Jacobs of Houston, Texas: "I hereby certify that Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diar rhoea Remedy cured my husband of a Bevere attack of Cuban diarrhoea, which he brought home from Cuba. We had several doctors bnt they did him no good. One bottle of this remedy cured him, as our neighbors will testify. I thank God for so valuable a medicine." Sold by all druggists.
