For the Public Good. ~ An independent and ably edited news paper which commands a great circula tion is probably the most potent influ ence for good in the United States to day. The power for the better things in public affairs and policies, for in stance, which is wielded by such a newspaper as The Chicago Record-Her ald can scarcely be exaggerated, and much of that strength comes in the case of this leading Chicago daily from the fact that it is absolutely independ ent, fearless and fair. It is not the mouthpiece of any interest except that of the public. The Record-Herald champions the cause of the good, the clean, the beneficial in every matter of city, state or national movement. It is the knowledge on the part of its teadere that it cares not whom it hits or what enemies it makes, so long as it is bat tling for the welfare of the community, which gives The Record-Herald much of the influence it enjoys. It give» in its news columns the most complete and impartial reports of political e\gpnts, another evidence of its splendid news service. - . Summer Diarrhoea In Children. During the hot weather of the sum mer months the first unnatural looseness of a child's bowels should have immedi ate attention, so as to check the disease before it becomes serious. All that is necessary is a few doses of Chamber lain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy followed by a dose of castor oil to cleanse the system. Rev. M. O. Stockland, pastor of the First M. E. church, Little Falls, Minn., writes: "We have used Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarahoea Remedy for several years and find it a valuable remedy, especial ly for summer disorders in children " Sold by G. Decree. w mvMj*.,- The citizens of McHenry and vicinity were very much shocked yesterday morning npon learning the sad news of the death of Dr. William Fegers, which occurred at the Fegers' camp at Palm Beach, Pistakee Bay, that morning. The doctor, in company with the Mc- Gee girls, had been in camp at the beautiful resort for some time. On Tuesday evening, on account of the ex treme dampness, the girls decided to go to McHenry for the night, leaving the doctor in charge of the camp alone. The doctor seemed in the beet of health on the departure of- the girls the evening before and from all circamstances he got up at the usual time the next morn ing, as his body was found lying beside the ice box, where he had undoubtedly gone while preparing his breakfast. His body was found by the milkman, who was making his usual morning deliver ies. Dr. C. H. Fegers, his brother, was at once notified and in the afternoon, after the inquest had been held, the body was brought to McHenry. The funeral will take place from St Mary's church tomorrow (Friday) morning. Obituary next week. Something special! The Weekly In- t& Ocean and this paper for $ 1.55 for one year.
