Hamer presides, has been a busy place during the last few months. Fe?*« ruary and March, the |wo big months of the year, were this year record break ers in the volume of business transacted. During February and March this year a total of 685 instruments were filed in Mr. Hamer's office, against 658 during the same months last year. A division of the instruments this year during the months mentioned shows that 284 of them were warranty, quit claim and other forms of deeds; 95 were trust deeds and mortgages and 306 were other forms of instruments desired to be placed on record. The division for the same months last year disclosed that 288 were warranty and quit claim deeds; 107 were trust deeds and mortgages and 307 were other forms. Many of the deeds recorded show that some big farm sales were negotiated, several of them running to $16,000 and 118,000, and land bringing $100 an acre s a common occurrence. Some of the large sales of farms included 160 acres in Seneca, owned by County Su perintendent of Schools Conn, to Fred and Edgar Smith of Oak Grove, the price paid being $100 an acre; C. F. Dike, 158 acres in Algonquin, to Wm. F. Rau for $16,500, which is consider ably above the $100 an acre figure; Wm. Brier, 80 acres in Seneca, to Walter Crandall for $118 an acre; George W. Conn also sold the Mark Hiokox f^rm near Woodstock for $110 an acre. The months of February and March this year saw deeds, mortgages, trust deeds and chattel mortgages recorded running up to astonishing figures--so high that many people would scarcely believeftt possible in a populous county like McHenry. One noticeable feature, however, the records show, and that is that the number of chattel mort gages recorded the two months of this year were much less than they were in the same months of last year. Below we give the value of the deeds, mort-. gages, trust deeds and chattel mortgag- recorded darixi^ FeJjra^j and March of this year; ^ Deeds. .'$595,215 Mortgages and^torttttdeeds...... $15,350 Chattel mortgages. 59,075 XpOR SALE--A house and lot near the river, x very cheap; part cash, balance time. 41-tf BANK OF MCHENRY. .;V>. ....Harvard • ..Sharon, Wis. lllr tf.- • Bitten by a Spider. Times may change, but farm lands in a coun ty like McHenry, with its great dairy industry and its proximity to Chicago, are not liable to depreciate very much. Doing business Again. "When my friends thought I Jras about to take leave of this world, on account of indigestion, nervousness and general debility," writes A. A. Chis- holm, Treadwell, N.
