Troubles of the Stomach, Heart or Kidneys are merely symptoms of a deeper ailment. Don't make the common error of treating symptoms only. Symptom treatment is treating the result of your ailment, and not the cause. Weak Stomach nerves --the inside nerves--means Stomach weakness, always. And the Heart and Kidneys as well have their controlling or inside nerves. Weaken these nerves and you inevitably have weak vital or gans. Here is where Dr=' Shoop's Re storative has made its fame. No other remedy even claims to treat the ' 'inside nerves." Alto for bloating, biliousness, bad breath or complexion, use Dr. Shoop's Restorative. Write for my free book now. Ask your druggist Springfield, III., May 11.--"Getaway night" of the legislature was^nrned into "Shurtleff»light" by Republicans and Democrats alike. For over an hour while the Chicago charter and other bills waited the house took an informal recess and prwjaed the retiring speaker. After being presented with a f300 dia mond ring by the Republicans the speaker heard his boom for governor started by the Democrats. David Shan- ahan of Cook county had said almost everything possible in praise of Shurt leff, Douglas Patterson, leader of the Democrats, had followed with remarks of esteem, when Lee O'Neill Browne of La Salle sprung the Shurtleff boom. "If in the near future the chair of the chief executive of this state is to become vacant and a Democrat is not to occupy it, then we, the Democrats, say that it should go to that one man who can fill it better than any other* Edward D. Shurtleff of Marengo." Enthusiasm unbounded broke loose. Hats, handkerchiefs and flags were waved, cheers were deafening and a hundred*" horns added to the noise. From that time on no chance was lost to refer to Mr. Shurtleff as the next governor. In accepting the gift of his ̂ fellow members Mr. Shurtleff announced his retirement from the speaker's chair, which he has held for two terms, and probably from the assembly. Representative David Shanahan of Chicago presented the gift in a short speech in which he feelingly referred to the speaker's fairness. In replying, Mr. Shurtleff announced his retirement from the assembly, saying that he had served his last term as speaker and probably as member of the house. Cries of "Next governor" greeted the speaker when he made this announcement, Mr. Shurtleff said in part: "It is impossible for me to fittingly respond to this grand token of your esteem and kindly feeling that seems to be manifested toward,.me in the posi tion that I have held and now occupy in this house. When I was elected speaker of the forty-fourth general as sembly I believe I stated to the assem bly that I believed in a majority rule, and that I also believed >that the right of the minority should never be throt tled, while they should remember that the minority should never be allowed to obstruct the absolute rule of the major ity. "In closing my second terpa as speak er of this house, which will be my last, ad the last time 1 expect to hold a seat in this botfy, I can only say to yoh that thank you for this kindness that you extend to me. I believe I go out of the office of speaker knowing the forty-fifth general assembly. ^1 feel it is the most independent body of which I have ever known, because I have tried, I think, to see that the majority of the house should have its way." Not a remedy that will straighten the distorted limbs of chronic cripples, nor turn bony growths back to flesh again. That is impossible But I can now surely kill the paint and pangs ol this deplorable disease. In Germany--with a Chemist In the City of Darmstadt--I found the last Ingredient with which Dr. Shoop's Rheumatic Remedy was made perfected, dependable prescription. Without that last ingredient, I successfully treated many, many cases of Rheumatism; but now, at last, it uni formly cures all curable cases of this heretofore much dreaded disease. Those sand-like granular wastes, found in Rheumatic Blood, seem to dissolve and p&fc* away under the action of this remedy aa freely as does sugar when added to pure water, And then, when dissolved, these poisonous wastes freely pass from the system, and the cause of Rheumatism is gone forever. There is now no real need-no actual excuse to suffer longer with out help. We sell, and In confidence I <y' . ""»» > "i t, "4 I'fcf ' ' y' V <i* if -W Dr. Shoop's Rheumatic Itemed H. H. PETESCH. One night when I was in severe pain and lame^rom it my, wife went to the drug store here and came back with a bottle of Chamberlain's Pain Balm.
