The power for the better things in public affairs and policies, for in stance, which is wielded by such a newspaper as The Chicago Record-Ber- ald can scarcely be exaggerated, and much of that strength comes in the case of this leading Chicago daily from the fact that it is absolutely independent, fearless and fair. It is a great pleasure to announce to theater goers of this city that Manager Gilbert has booked an engagement of Fred Raymond's famous comedy, The Missouri Girl, which created snch favor able comment last season. The clean cut comedy of the play, the antics of Zehe and Daisy and their merry associ ates are still fresh in the memories of those* who have witnessed the produc tion, and as this season's company is said to be even stronger than ever, they will, no doubt, be greeted by a packed house upon their appearance here San- day night, Aug. 4. He was the youngest son ol Mr. and Mrs. John Simon. He had been ailing for the past two months but his condi tion w^s not considered at all - serious until the day before his death when he was compelled to take to his bed, hav ing contracted a case of measles. Once down in bed he began to fail rapidly, the end coming Thursday morning, July 36. The deceased, since leaving school, has been a most industrious young man, being almost constantly employed. He was a faithful, honest young man, most courteous to all with whom he associat ed or had any dealings.
