The special committee on Riley bridge made the following report, which was adopted, to-wlt: Mr Chairman and Gentlemen of the Board of Supervisors: Your committee to whom was referred tue petition or, the highway commissioners bf the town dt Riley for aid in building a bridge " across Drainage Ditch in Section No. 38 Riley, would beg leave to submit the following report on the matters be­ fore them: That they met at location of bridge on July 7, 191°, with said com­ missioners of highways of said town- ahiD, and found that said commission­ ers" were entitled to county aid and that they had complied with all memts of the law and that a bridge « feet in length and 14 feet in width was necessary. They would further report ' - that they advertised for bids and inar July 23rd, 1910, they met with said Commissioners and opened bids, thit the Continental Bridge company was j^ntlke lowest bidder and contract wa3 ^awarded to said tompany for the sum of $825.00. Joniv Baldock, 8tate's Attorney Joslyn presented the itiatter of appropriating a fund for the use of the sheriff in apprehending crim­ inals within McHenry county, 111. On motion of Sup. Jewett, »1000 was placed at the disposal of the sheriff for said purpose, said sheriff of McHenry coun­ ty county, Illinois, to make an Item­ ised sworn account, of where and what purposes money was spent, and file with this board for their approval. Sup. Jewett, upon request of the coun­ ty clerk and treasurer, presented the matter of purchasing an adding ma­ chine for those two offices. On "motion of Sup. Mentch, the county clerk was authorized to purchase Wales adding machine at the standard p^lce less dis­ count, $316.25. Sup. Jewett presented the matter of three bills for board and care of de­ pendent children at the Industrial home at Woodstock, Illinois, and upon motion of Sup. Brotzman, the matter was laid over to the next meeting. Sup. Baldock presented the following resolution and moved Jts adoption. The chairman called for rising vote and was unanimously carried. WHEREAS, For the past sixteen years the board of supervisors of McHenry county has had at its command the services of George F. Rush ton as lis clerk, AND WHEREAS. The said assistant's salary to be ($650) five hun­ dred and fifty dollars for said six months. We would fqrther recommend that the sum of fifty dollars ($50; be appropriated for the expenses of the meetings of .tyie superintendent's and principal's association of the city and village schools. We also recom- n"ie<nd that the county superintendent be allowed an additional compensation of the wm of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150) for the first six months of his term of office, payable seventy- five dollars ($76) quarterly from the coun ty treasurer of the said McHenry coun­ ty; and that said additional compensa­ tion be increased after June 1, 1911. in ^fidse said county superintendent is able »fo operate said county superintendent's office without the continued service of an assistant county superintendent, by efnploylng and paying from his addition­ al compensation help at such times and on such occasions as is necessary to properly transact the business of the of­ fice, provided that this plan • of opera­ tion will maintain the efficiency of the office as well as lessen the expense.
