St. Mary's church fair, which came to a close at Buch's hall on Thursday evening of last week after a live days' run, proved one of the most successful fairs held in McHenry in many years. Large crowds were in attendance each night and the various booths and stands as well as the fish pond, wheel of for tune and other attractions did a big business every night. The closing night was a record breaker in every way. On that night a chicken supper was "served to over three hundred peo ple and during the entire evening the hall was packed to the limit. Over $•>00 were taken in on the la>t day. The proceeds of the fair, we are told, was about $1,450. When the bills are paid, the committee informs us. a net balance of over $1,000 will go into the church treasury. Last year the net proceeds were about $SHi0. A neglected cough may become chron ic.
