May farm, near this place, which was recently destroyed by fire. The next dance at Smith's hall here will take place on Wednesday evening, May 0. The Ruec.tz-St.arck wedding dance will take place on that date. Quite a bit of excitement prevailed in our quiet little burg for a few mo ments last Sunday when ft couple of our young men engaged in lively set-to. Nick Freund, the Spring Gh)ve blacksmith, now drives a new Ford car. Nick's many friends here will be pleased to know of his evident pros perity. Our tailor, Lawrence Baer, is being hept quite busy. HeUnrns out good work and his pricos are within thu reach of all. A rumor has been afloat here to the effect that one of our former sa loon keepers had rented a place in Mc Henry. The rumor oannot be verilied at this time. A report has been circulated about town to the effect that the gas com pany will extend its mains to this place and thence on to Richmond. We hope that the report is true. Work on the new addition to the Weiland Dairy company's plant here goes merrily on. The plant will soon be ready to start on the manufacture df the powdered product. ' Johnsburgh baseball talent was out in goodly numbers last Sunday after noon. The grounds west of "Stubby's" place were used by the boys for gener al limbering up purposes. Rev. Edw. Berthold of this place ap peared at the Central opera house at McHenry on Tuesday evening in one of his famous stereoptioon lectures. The attendance was very small. Work on the new barn that is to re place the structure destroyed by fire on the farm of Mathias Freund, north west of this place, is progressing nice ly. The new barn will be considerably larger than the old one and, will be modern in every detail. ,* Johnsburgh is amonfir the very latest of McHenry county towns to join the dry column. The saloons have all dis continued the sale of intoxicating liquors. The places are not closed, however, as soft drinks and cigars have taken the place of the stronger drinks. The saloon keepers of this place must be given credit for the manner in which they are following out their re cent orders. Their friends here hope that matters may be arranged with the county board of supervisors whereby they may be granted a license and op erate their places of business in a legal ised way. Miss Margaret Tonyan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Win, Tonyan of Spring Grove, and Joseph Freund of Ring- wood were married at the Catholic ohurch at Spring Grove on Monday morning oMast week. They held-their wedding dance at Smith's hall here that evening.
