Frost and C. C. Edwards, the three circuit court judges of this district, whose terms expire next month and who are candidates to succeed themselves, have records which entitle them to re-elec- tion. They have been chosen in the regular way and voters without regard to party can support them conscious that in doing so they will give approval to jurists who have done their best to serve the district and the people. Circuit judges upon assuming their duties abandon their court practice; give up their source of revenue so far as law practice is concerned and dedi­ cate themselves to the work in the office to which they ^re elected. Here in this district Judges Donnelly, Frost and Edwards have confined their work entirely to the district. Neither has left the district to hold court in Chica­ go, where extra compensation is paid aside from their regular salary. The fact is the district has had the benefit of their entire service; the court work in the various counties of the district has been kept up so that no criticism is heardof judges leaving the district to draw extra pay by hold­ ing court in Chicago. Judge Donnelly and Judge Frost each have the advantage of many years of experience on the bench, while Judge Edwards has also made good during the brief time he has served thereon as the successor of Judge Whitney, deceased. Circuit court judges who render good scrvlee, who are capable and honest, as are the three jurists whose terms expire in this district, are not frequently changed. In fact, the custom is to retain judges of this class because of the value of their exper­ ience. The three judges of the district have been chosen in the same manner as have those in the other sixteen dis­ tricts of the state.
