The McHenry highs, ever since the beginning of the season, have been traveling out of town for their games, but in response to many urgent re quests they booked the Crystal Lake highs for a game here last Saturday and the large turn-out that greeted the' players was sufficient proof that Mc Henry fans like the game and are willing to support the team. The McHenry squad played its first game of the season against the Crys tal Lake highs at Crystal Lake, where the boys went down to a 6 to 0 de feat. Sihce that game their exper ience with the Elgin, Rockford and DesPlalhes teams and the expert coaching of Coach Dorr has drilled considerable football into the players, which fact was proven beyond a shad ow of doubt last Saturday afternoon, when they registered such a decisive defeat over a team that out weighed them several pounds to the man. The players of the orange and blacl^ put up a very creditable article of ball on this occasion and from a specta tor's poigt of view there was little fault to be found with the hom£ play ers, especially when it is considered that this is only the second year of football at the school, and also that a number of the men in the line-up played their first game with the be ginning of the present season. In fact, a number of the boys have played in only five games. When the whistle sounded the start of the contest last Saturday there was a solid wall of fans on the south side line, while a few of the more ardent rooters followed the action of the game from the north side of the field. Crystal Lake failed to bring an of ficial and appeared satisfied to have Coach Dorr act as the general su preme and if any fault was found with his work in his official capacity by the visiting or home players they have kept this to themselves, as we have heard nary a word against him. The game started with Crystal i.ake kicking off. McHenry gained the ball and carried it several yards towards our goal. During the skirmishes that fniinwoH HcHsnry mcd.c ctcudy with the result that when within a few yards of the goal Ff Bonslett carried the ball over for McHenry's first touch down. Bonslett failed to kick goal. McHenry kicked off to Crystal Lake, who returned the ball several yards. The two teams battled hard for a few minutes without either of them gain ing or losing much ground, the first quarter ending with .the ball in about the center of the field. Score 6 to 0. After a short rest play resumed with the ball in the possession of the local team and playing on McHenry's territory. After several unsuccessful attempts^ :to get thru, McHenry finally worked a pretty forward pass. E. Bonslett stepped back with the ball and without the slightest interference he pulled back his arm as if to pass the oval, but instead shot out in the open field for a gain Of about twenty yards. Gains were then made in rap- id succession and when within strik ing distance P. Bonslett again crossed the line ~for the second touch down of the day. Bonslett again failed to kick goal. The second quarter ended, without any more scoring. Score 12 to 0. During the intermission between halves the coaches of both teams gave the player# a short ̂ lecture, the one by Coach Dorr provithe most effec tive^ as the home lads went into the second half with a great deal more pep" than was displayed during the first part of the game. In this, however,' the McHenry boys had an edge on their, opponents, ..as they grained considerably more ground on this style of play then did Crystal Lake. After (several hard scririimages McHenry! -once more got the ! ball started for the home goal and after a few minutes of play Bonslett count ed McHenry's third touch down. E.
