Miller of Johnsburg appeared'in p, McHenry uniform and was given a trial. He worked in the box for Mc Henry for the first five innings, during which time he allowed but one hit, struck out four men and walked /two. Satisfied that the boy is plenty good ^enough for McHenry, Walsh aljewed him to rest up while Sahlberg finished the game. Miller looks like a real pitcher. He has the build, a nice change of. speed and plenty of stuff. He is cool headed and fields his position, nicely. We ex pect to see him going like a house afire before the season is half over. Manager Walsh is exceptionally well pleased with the youngster and will, no doubt, use him regularly during the season. The fans were well pleased with the game as well as with the McHen ry team. While a few errors are charged against our boys and a bit of loose playing was displayed by them on one or twfo occasions, the "bugs" are satisfied that McHenry has a pretty fast outfit. The outfield is strong. Each and every one of them is a sure fielder and any one of them is liable to break up a ball game with his war clttb at any time. The infield, too, with Listig at first, shows up well. - . Many sparkling plays were pulled off during the game. Koob, Seablom and Brailsford made good catches in the outer gardens, while Michels, Lis tig, Warner and Boe pulled off some great plays in the infield. The game by inhings was sis fol lows: FIRST INNING: Schuler fanned. Erickson skied to Seablom. Boe struck out. No hits, no runs. McHeniry: Koob skied to Loikets. Knox fanned. Brailsford was hit by a pitched ball and went to first. Brailsford stole second. • Listig was safe at first when Schuler dropped the third strike called on him. Brails ford also advanced a notch on the error. Seablonj struck out. No hits, no runs. SECOND INNING: Michels made a wonderful stop of Spears' hard rap down the third base line and threw the runner, out at first. Warrender out, Miller to Listig. Stewart fanned. No hits, no runs. I McHenry: Bowen/fanned. Michels out, Warrender to Erickson. Warner doubled to left. Miller rolled a sharp one down to Boe and Warner waa caught at third. One hit, no runs. THIRD INNING: Loikets shot a fast one down to Michels, Michels fielding the ball, but threw wildly to first, the runner going all the way, to second on the error. Christopher singled past short, Loikets scoring, while Christopher went to second on the tjbrow to the plate. Koob made a sjftJendid catch of drive to deep left. One hit, one run. McHenry: Koob singled to right and a moment later was caught at second when Knox hit to Loikets. Loikets tried to complete the double, but little "Bobby" beat the throw by a breath. Brailsford drew a walk, Knox taking second. Both runners advanced a peg on a passed ball. Listig fanned. Seablom out, War- render to Erickson. One hit, no runs. FOURTH INNING: Boe out, Mill er to Listig. Spears fanned. War- render flew out to Koob. No hits, no runs'. . McHenry: Boe picked ^ Bowen's high fly off the screen in froftt of the grandstand. Michels out, War- render to Erickson. Warner walked. Miller rolled out to Erickson at first. No hits, no runs. FIFTH INNING: Stewart walked and stole second. In trying to catch the base runner at second Warner threw the ball badly to Seablom. Stewart tried to make third on the play, but ^was nipped by a fast re lay of the ball to third by Seablom. About this time Loikets got chesty and tried to steal second while Miller was looking right straight at him. The result was that he was killed be tween the two sacks. "Bobby" Knox raced back of second and copped Christopher's short fly. No hits, no runs. McHenry: Koob walked and went to second when Schuler tried to catch him napping at first, Schuler's throw being a bit off. Knox skied to Loi kets. Brailsford walked. Listig fanned. Seablom doubled to right, Koob scoring and Brailsford going to third. A moment later both runners rode home on Bowen's double to left. Michels singled to left, Seablom pull ing around to .third. SIXTH INNING: Sahlberg re lieved Miller in the box, while Kim ball replaced "Bobby" Knox at sec ond. Schuler singled to left. Erick son beat out an infield hit towards third, Schuler racing all the way to third on the throw to first Erick son stole second. Boe rapped a fast one to Michels. Michels fielded the ball, like a veteran and shot it home just ahead of Schuler, who tried to score. Erickson went to third on i the play. Sahlberg fumbled Spears' fast roller and then threw wild to first, the error scoring both Erick son and Boe, while the batter went all the way to Second. Spears went to third on a passed ball. Warren der fanned. Two hits, two runs. McHenry: Warner walked and stole second while Sahlberg was fan ning. Koob was safe at first on Spears' error, Warner going to third Kimball singled to left, the hit scor ing Warner and sending Koob around to third, Kimball stole second. Brailsford whiffed. Schuler tried to make third on the play, but was killed by "Sally" and Michels. Boe skied to Koob. One hit, no runs. Koob went oat en • •foigh foul to- Schuler. Kimball shot a fast one to Spears. Spears' throw to first was had and the runner never stopped until he had reached the tenter station. Kimball had no more than reached , second when he was caught napping and was thrown out by a quick throw by Warrender. Brailsford skied to Erickson. No hits, no runs. NI^fTH INNING: Bowen let Spears' easy fly drop out of his mitts after he once had hold of it. Spears then stole second. Warrender and Stewart fanned. Spears stole third. Loikets walked and stole second. Christopher went out on a long fly to Brailsford. No hits, no runs. Game Next Sunday The Chicago Warren^ will be the attraction here next Sunday after noon. The Warrens have played in McHenry on several different Occa sions in the"past two seasons and on every trip have given a very good ac count of themselves. Advance dope from the Chicago team is to the ef fect that they are stronger than ever this year and that they are coming to McHenry with the expectation of handing the Sox their season's first defeat. However, the fans may rest assured that the McHenry outfit will fight every inch of ground and that they will refuse to be counted out until the last man has been retired. The grandstand is now in service and its location gives one an excellent view of the playing field. Come out and watch two fast teams' from a comfortable seat. General admission, 25 cents. Children, 15 cents. COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS V Village Trustees Meet In Regular Session Monday Eveninfc Council Room, June 5, 1916.
