Frank Hughes, the genial C. T. & T. C. man, treated the boys to a highly enjoyed spread at the Mc Henry Pleasure club rooms on Tues day evening of this week. It was .Frank's birthday anniversary. Later another game of basket ball was booked between Richmond and McHenry eighth graders, which will take place Friday evening at the gym. Dancing and a social time will then in order for all who wish to remain. On account of the scarcity of men the work of harvesting the ice at Mc- Collum's lake is progressing slowly. However, the proprietor of the im- ense houses there hopes to com plete the job long before the break up comes. The Chicago train on Wednesday morning did not reach this station until eieven o'clock. Two derailed freight cars a quarter of a mile up the track caused the delay. Ring- wood pupils were late at school and passengers from this station spent a* short day in the city. Exhibitors at the poultry show re port some minor thefts and suspicion points strongly toward local talent as the perpetrators of the misdeeds. It is to be regrettfed that we have people in this village who have to be watched wherever they go, but such seems to be the case. ^ A. meeting of the dairymen was held in the ante-room at Stoffel's hall on Saturday afternoon to organize a Co-operative <5ow Testing associa tions An agreement "was drawn up, to which two-thirds of the members affixed their names. The farmers hope to get started with the test by March 1. On account of the severity of the weather the ski jump at Cary last Sunday did not draw many from Mc Henry and vicinity. In fact, a re port was circulated about town dur ing the day that the meet had been postponed a week and this, too^ un doubtedly kept some from making the trip. John Franzen has gone to Wood stock, where he is now employed in a tonsorial ghop. At this season of the year there isn't enough business to keep two men busy in the Center- ville shop in this village and it is for this reason that John has taken the Woodstock position until the opening of the spring business here. Ice harvesting on the Borden fields here has been delayed more or less during the past week on account of a disabled switch engine and the de railment of a number of cars. The engine that is being used for switch ing purposes is not of the newest type and is one that evidently has outlived most of its usefulness. The scrap heap would be the proper place for it, according-to the men employed at Borden's. ^ In appreciation of the FOR RENT---The R. A.
