Henry Eppel and family of Wood­ stock were Sunday visitors with his brother, Fred, and family. C. C. Clark, wife and children and .his mother, Mrs. R. J. Clark, were recent callers at the Hobart home News of the recent marriage of Clyde Francisco to Miss Jessie Sher­ man of Michigan was recently re­ ceived by relatives. C. E. Jecks was thrown from his wagon nith a plow, injuring one of his limbs, so he limps, but no bones broken. Lucky Charlie. Frank Kaiser and children autoed to Elgin expecting to bring the wife and mother home, but they found there was a case of smallpox in the same ward and they could net even see her. Frank Hutson returned from Flor­ ida and is at the home of his son, George, at Woodstock in a very ser ious condition. He has had malaria fever twice and now has dropsy They report his weight at 190 pounds. JOHNSBURG Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jus ten of Mc­ Henry called on friends in town Tues­ day. Peter Schaefer and bride of Chicago visited the former's parents here a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Justen of McHen­ ry spent Monday as guests in the home of Mrs. Kathryn May. Mrs. N. J. Nye and daughter, Rose­ mary, of McHenry were callers in town Tuesday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Justen are rejoic­ ing over the arrival of a baby boy, born to them on Monday, June 10. Miss Margaret Hueman of McHenry is spending the week as a guest in the home of her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Jos. H. Huemann. Don't forget the dance at Columbia park, near the river bridge, next Sat­ urday evening, June 15. Good-music and a good time. Quite a number from here attended the picnic given under the auspices of St. Peter's parish at Volo last Satur­ day and Sunday. Mrs. Wm. Smith and children of McHenry visited in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Michels, one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Michels of Chi­ cago are spending a few days this week as the guests of relatives here and at Pistakee Bay. Mrs. Jos. E. Freund of McHenry spent a few days recently as a guest in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob A. Miller. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Freund drove to Zenda, Wis., last Thursday evening, where they called on relatives. Rev. Geo. Nell writes from Effing­ ham, 111., that his parish there now has 55 stars in its service^flag, one of which is a gold star. Most of the boys from that city, he adds, are volunteers. Wm. Mueller, a former resident of this vicinity, writes from Adams, Minn., that the weather has been wet, but is now nice and warm. He also adds that there is still some corn to be planted and that the small grain looks fine. The roads, he says, are in fair condition. Dr. Arnold Mueller answered a call that takes him into the medical service of the United States army and left last Saturday morning for a camp in South Carolina, where he is now sta­ tioned. The doctor volunteered his services shortly after this country broke relationship with Germany and is now ready to give his very best to his country. While Johnsburg is sor­ ry to lose him all join in wishing him good luck. While nothing definite known at this time, it is naturally ex pec ted that the doctor will see service "over there" very soon. RINGWOOD C. H. Stephenson and wife drove to Hickory last Sunday. Mrs. Florence Bell is spending this week with her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Esh, at Spring Grove. Floyd Foss, with Mr. and Mrs Priest and children, attended church at Lake Gepeva last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Stepheson vis­ ited their son, Paul, at the military camp at Lake Geneva, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Smith, daughter Emily, and son, Earl, of Champaign 111., are visiting relative^ here. Mrs. .
