Mr. and Mrs. Wade Sanborn of Spring Grove were pleasant callers in town Sunday. Miss Viola Rager of Hebron is spending a few days with her little friends in town. Mrs. Mary Esh of Spring Grove visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Bell, last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Smith were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Hewes of Hebron. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Pay of Granville, 111., were in town Monday, calling on relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. H. Johnson and children of McHenry were Sunday quests of Mr. and Mrs. H. Stephenson. Sunday evening services will be held next Sunday at the home of Mr, and Mrs. W. A. Dodge. All are invited. Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Miss Grace Harrison and lady friend of Woodstock returned Saturday from a four days' trip on beautiful Lake Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Bacon, Mrs Happy Hall and Miss Ellen Hall motored to Hebron Saturday and called at the Clay Rager home. Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Flanders and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Adams went to Harvard last Friday and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Conway. Clinton Fay, who accidentally got his foot scalded at the Bowman factory last Thursday, is suffering a good deal of pain at present writing. Mr. and Mrs. Will McCannon, Mrs. Walker and son, Fred, and C. W. Harrison attended the funeral of Ed. Wesson at Greenwood Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. fi. C. Hawley are now nicely settled in their new home and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Hopper are preparing to move into the house vacated by the Hawley family. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Brunswick, Mrs. Julia Toynton of Genoa Junction and the Frank Toynton family all motored to Palatine Sunday and spent the day in the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Toynton. TERRA COTTA Henry McMillan spent a day last week at Troy Center, Wis. Miss Eleanor McMillan is visiting at the home of Earl McMillan. Miss Eleanor Walsh of McHenry visited relatives here last week. Mrs. Fred Trudell was a recent guest of her mother in Woodstock. Mr. and Mrs. John Liddle are entertaining relatives from Chicago. Miss Agnes Frisby of Elgin is spending the week at her home here. G. W. Ames and son, Will, were Wisconsin visitors one day last week. Quentin Walsh of McHenry is spending the week with his cousins here. Fred Bergman of Chicago was a recent guest in the S. B. Leisner home. Raymond Riley has been the guest of relatives in Chicago the past week. Mrs. Fred Bergman was the guest of Her parents and sister here last week. Dr. A. I. Froehlich of McHenry was a professional caller here last week. Mrs. Marion McMillan is visiting at the home of her son, Earl, and family. 3 S. B. Thomas Bolger and Richard Fleming were business callers here Friday evening. Misses Ellen, Dorothy and Berteel Spencer of McHenry called in this vicinity Sunday. Erich Utech has returned to work in the Terra Cotta factory after a ten days' vacation. Miss Eleanor Phalin has been the gvest of relatives and friends at Woodstock and Madison. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Gracy attended the funeral of Albert Hanson at Troy Center, Wis., last week Tuesday. Miss Margaret Grant is enjoying a week's vacation from her duties at the Herald office at Crystal Lake. Misses Eva and Neva McMillan have been guests of relatives at Bassett Station, Wis., for the past week. Edward J. Knox, who recently returned from his third voyage overseas, spent Sunday at his home here. He is at present at Great Lakes, where he is awaiting his discharge. Mr. and Mrs. M. Knox, son, Harold, and daughter, Marie, motored to DeKalb Friday. They were accompanied home by the Misses Frances Knox and Nellie Doherty, who have spent the past six weeks in De Kalb attending the summer school. Geo Kane, who just recently returned from overseas, went to Woodstock Monday evening for a few days' stay. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. James Boyle writes to home folks here that he has been promoted to quartermaster sergeant. He is now at Camp Pontanzen, Brest, France, and expects to sail for home in the very near future. YOLO . Mr. and Mrs. F. Croaker, of Libertyville were guests of friends in this village Sunday. Mr. and'Mrs. Ves Wagner and family spent Sunday as the guests of McHenry relatives. Mr. and Mrs. A. Townsend have returned to their home here after a several weteks' visit in Iowa Mrs. Ben Cushman and daughter, Muriel, of Round Lake passed Sunday as guests in the J as. Kirwan home. Mrs. Phil Peterson and daughter, Ruby, of Wauconda spent Wednesday of last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Cox. Services Sunday, Aug. lO, will be Sunday school at 2:00 p. m. and preaching at 8:00. ' Rev. E. C. Palmer, pastor. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Paddock and son, LaVerne, were visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Paddock Thursday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Williams and daughter of Chicago passed last week as guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Huson and family. The bam dance and ice cream social, given at the home of Frank Wilson on Wednesday evening of last week, July 30, were postponed on account of the rain. Rogers are re joicing over the arrival of a little son at their home. R. H. Richardson's new solid cement silo is finished and waiting to be filled. It is a beauty. Mrs. Magnus Nelson of Crystal Lake was a Sunday afternoon caller at the home of Oscar Prahl. C. E. Sherman was threshing Monday and hauled his wheat directly from the machine to the market. Miss Ammie Francisco finished taking treatments of Dr. Ericson at Woodstock last week. She has improved very much under his treatment. Myron Francisco, wife and daughter, Mrs. Ethel Davis, and two little sons, Alvin and Merle, of Wauconda visited relatives in this vicinity recently. The rain last week Wednesday was a great blessing to all growing things and we were blessed again this week Monday night and a part of Tuesday. Everybody was glad of the rain but those cooked up ready for the threshing men. David Magoon, who many years ago lived in this vicinity, but now resides in Michigan, was visiting rel atives in McHenry and Woodstock last week and called here on a few old acquaintances. He informed us that his wife, Adelaide Basset^ Magoon, was almost entirely blin&>' Additional Personal Miss Agnes Frisby returned hoqne from Elgin this week, where -uhe has been employed at the Cook Publishing House during the past two months. She expects to resume teaching this fail. Mr. and Mrs. B. Schoewer and son, Charles, Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Klein and daughters, Mildred and Eleanor, motored out from Chicago Saturday and spent the week end at the home of Mr and Mrs. P. J, Schoewer. Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
