" v-f i ? -f Woodstock basketball fans, as well as those around the county, are over joyed at the report that the District tournament is to be held at St. Mary's gymnasium this year. Hebron's high school cage team, the one that opens the home season for McCracken's boys Friday night, is worth watching and should make a strong bid with Harvard and Crystal Lake for the county honors this season, despite the fact that they have been defeated at Crystal Lake. The final score of 34 to 17 was fairly representative. Kinsala led the scoring with enough points to defeat Genoa unaided, scoring eight baskets and a pair of freethrows. It is interesting to study the ing of the bowling leagues. In each case the No. 4 team is leading and the No. 3 team is the tailender. Must be that bowlers are susceptible to superstition as well as other athletes. The arrangement of the teams is the same in the Old Timers' League as it is in the Forester. Each league had a star this week that stood head and shoulders above the rest- These bowlers get real hot at dimes add the following were the tycoons for the past week- The Foresters found that Ed SmiA was on and Ed turned in a 625 series with high game of 231. Darwin Granger led the old men at their pastime with a high count of 258 and an aggregate of 614. Covalt also had a good evening in the same circuit with 550. Herman Steffes constructed a 603 series with of neat counts, 212 and 246. He fell down in his second attempt or he'd have set up a new high series for the year. Strain, f Blaine, f Goodell, c ...... The Genoa lads threw a scare into the home lads by taking a 5-fr lead at the start, but they soon fell behind as the MAACS found the man to man defense employed by Genoa too slow to coptwith the fast-breaking olfense cons monly used by the favorites. Kinsala soon had the opposing center bewildered and his mates fed him the ball regularly as he drove in for baskets. Altogether he managed to sink eight counters from scrim mat' and added a pair of freethrows to bring his total points to eighteen, ©rumore than the opponents scored. Gus Freund was still out of th<> if«me with a bum ankle and this left but six men, but they were all that were needed as the score Indicates. These boys are all deaf mutes whose play one would imagine would be handicapped by the inability to shout and call as most teams do. It is the apparent ease with which they over come this shortcoming that adds so much to the amazement of the fans who witness these lads in action. It h a sight that will make sport fans of the real calibre stop and think and make them realize just how thankful they should be that they possess all their senses. McCracken fully realises that his boys are in for a busy evening an is stressing that game with more than the usual amount of preparation. It should be a game well worth watching:, but in the meantime don't forget that j Hebron plays here Friday night (i-- morrow night) and that Hebron recently trimmed Woodstock after the county-seat boys had nosed out McHenry in the first game of the season.
