ROTNOUR PLAYERS Sanger Signal Needed ' Some kind of a danger signal should be installed at the intersection of two heavily traveled highways in McHenry. We refer to the corner of Richmond Road and Elm street, where U. S. 12 and State Route 20 come together. There have been several accidents at this corner within the last few months and a house which is situated at this point will be entirely knockcd to pieces if something is not done. Motorists driving south on No. 12 when it is foggy have been known to drive over the curb and into the porch of this building before they realized they were at the curve. Of course, they were probably driving too fast, but if there had been a danger signal to warn them of the turn, their speed could have been cot down and the crash avoided. A state stop sign is located at this corner but at night there is no light oh it and even in daylight it is quite eary to pass without being seen unless the driver is extremely cautious. It would be a wise move on the part of some state road official to investigate this need. This subscriber has a business in this city and does considerable trade with the summer residents, the majority of whom operate on dayliirht saving time. Most of the cities and towns in the Chicago area use daylight time throughout the summer. Waukegan, Crystal Lake and a number of others where McHenry people visit quite often were on this time last year. The summer residents who spend their seasons in the Fox Valley and the lake regions continue to leave their time pieces on Chicago time and they find it rather puzzling when they come to McHenry on account of standard time here. [ Do the people of this city want dayi light saving time? If so, now is the • time to start talking about it. The matter can be put to a vote of the people at the coming city election this i spring. But it is necessary to get the petitions out in order to get it on the i ballot. j We believe that daylight saving 1 time would be very satisfactory to a | majority of the people here and especially to the city folks who are our patrons during the summer months. The Plaindealer will be glad to print expressions of our readers during the next few weeks . Just send in your letter and state what yon think about it. From the charity wards of hospitals and from accidents on city streets potter's field annually draws between 400 and 500 of Cleveland's dead. The frequency of burials makes it necessary for five and six graves always to be In readiness. The arrangements are unpretentious, the ceremony simple: A pine board box, costing $18 for adults and $10 for children, is purchased from an undertaker who receives in addition a small fee for his services.
