Lentil Ancient Food, Lentils are not produced to any great extent In this country, though a small variety of lentil Is grown in New Mexico and Arizona, as well as In Mexico, the seed of which was probably brought from Spain centuries ago. The lefitil is a very ancient food and has been cultivated In western Asia, Egypt and the Mediterranean countries from the earliest times. Germany, Holland and France also raise them, but it is stated that most of our imports have come froui southern Europe and Egypt. ~ First Ornamental Jewelry There is little doubt that the custom Of wearing precious stones In rings, and the charms worn as pendants to watch chains, originated in the amulet and talisman of old which possessed some magical and mysterious virtue against evil.
