M. C. A. The boys won the team trophy for the school having the mos points in the semi-finals and finals and they looked good in winning the trophy. George Frisby and Harry Anderson cinched the trophy when two Grant boys failed to, make their weight and were automatically disqualified. Even the boys who lost were far from doing a discredit to the school and pu^ all they had into the ring,' ' The event wak Mii Sra Httle co-operation from the State High School Athletic Association, in fact, all they did was to approve the movement, but they refused to sponsor it BO the ORF .Brothers, Louis of Fox May 5--The first event of season Lake and Jack of"HSknry, ahead and put the thing over with a bang. If it eventually hits the mark at which it was aimed, the installation of boxing in Illinois High schools »iui an annual state tournament, thtn the Orr b^ys will have accomplished the purpose they had in mind when the movement was started. It "ill take years to l>uild it. to that extent but what large institution was founded in a day? It is a beneficial sport for the boys and: one to which they tftV* like a duck to water. Any aid which can be giver* to the movement should certainly be given. Only ten more days now until daylight saving comes into vogue and here it is still wintry weather. Some of the golfers have been out warming up for the comffng season but as yet thl majority have failed to fall to the temptation seemingly held away by the wintry blasts from out the North. ";-• v' v . • Thert the** « the activity anwnd the softball park on the West Sido, where things a%e being made shipshape for a bigger and better season than was the original one last year. With the lights all paid for, the boys are now no longer working on the proposition with that haunting fear that the idea might not go over but are now going ahead certain that the public has taken to the game as a permanent, hobby. On this basis they are making a skinned park with the diamond barren of grass back as far as the light pofcp, thus lessening the danger of skidding when the grass becomes wet with dew. The softball league will this year enlarge its stope and will take in Belvider © and Poplar Grove in this territory. Last year's loop proved a good move, though the Soft Ball association did fall down on the supervision when it came to playing the finals. Maybe a year's experience will help them as well as the boys so this year things will be conducted in shipshape fashion. The schedule for the 19S5 golf season at the McHenry Country club was released by President Jim Sayler and it looks like a busy one for all the bugs. There are, however, salaries and other running expenses to be met and if the members will kindly send in even' a portion of their dues it will help a great deal. If this reminder gets only one five dollar payment then it will have accomplished its purpose, so won't. YOU send in a little on your dues? Quite a sweepstakes they held at the Palace alleys Tuesday night with Allie Baur walking home with the first p'rize and George Justen taking the second. Dutch Bacon was third. The event was a handicap affair and was open to the public. Thirty-one bowlers turned out and were rewarded with magnificent prizes. O. K- BOYS PLAY MARRIED MEN The boys of the O. K. Community club played the married men in a soft ball game at Ostend Sunday, defeating their elders in the first game of the season. The club is composed of the young peopB? from the three school districts of Ostend, Charles and Fosdick districts and meets twice each month under the supervision of Mrs Smith. During the winter months parties and private dances were enjoyed and extra recreation will be planned for the summer.
