Maybe we should count the Alumni and other games, but let's just look at the regular schedule and call this number one. It was McHenry 32; Herbon 29. The game started out with Kramer at center, Adams and Beckenbaugh at forward posts, Freund and Paul Justen at the, guard positions. With the exception of F reund, each of these men had rest periods during the game. Substitutions worked to good advantage throughout "the contest, tending to steady, the team through the excitement qf a hard fought battle. It has been many a lopg day since a local squad took a game from Hebron on that floor. This was a nip and tuck battle throughout with McHenry holding » slight edge most of the way. Prospects for the year hAve looked "none too brilliant ahd the thought? of Meeting the ever-dangerous Hebron outfit in the first game brought deep sighs from many. Just to upset the dope, our boys did themselves proud by playing a hard, fast game that brought victory. Our second team took a thrilling overtime game, 30 to- 28. Starting like a house afire, our boys seemed destined to walk away from the He bron lights. Lack of experience told on some of our boys as the game progressed and Hebron steadily drew up to the leaders. The final whistle found a 28 to 28 deadlock, requiring a three-minute overtime period. Harry Anderson c«me through with his eighth basket of the evening to win It was a long shot from mid-floor that swooped through the net in unquestionable style.
