Gilmore, Woodstock, A.W.Young, of Harvard; , D T Smiley, of Woodstock, whose ical strength we Bhould judge to be Jut in the order named, with Judge lore far in the lead. That Judge lore is justly entitled to the position ability, experience, and eminent fit- i, no reasonable man will deny. He the choice of the people, but the of unscrupulous wire pullers, who kve their tools scattered over the ity, ate leaving no means untried to inpass his defeat. And why? Simply use they cannot make him a pliant to aid them in their dirty work of. arting the will of the people^, and ding out the offices of the county at . leir own sweet will. Judge. Gilmore is ot made of that kind of material. • The "Boss'* Ring leader of Woodstock Iff making frantic appeals for his candi- . ate, and says, " for God sake, gentle- ien, you must give the Judgeship to , miley as he was promised it two years go!" A very significant admission, •at will the gentleman please inform us ow long his franchise runs, whereby he mMk-: * i authorized to farm out the offices of he county, in payment for the services f his gang of pot house politicians, and o the detriment of the people of the ounty ? And this is but one instance where unwarranted promises have been nade. Already the wires are laid and promises made by these self-constituted guardians of the offices of McHenry jounty, for the next County Clerk, Treas irer, Sheriff, and even th»- State Re presentative, three years ahead, and the people must have nothing to say about *§ •/ % V V it. As in the late Judicial matter, three four of the gang got together at Woodstock, named delegates to the Ju ;ial Convention, and did not even say the people by your leave. Because fudge Gilmore believes the people should lave something to say in these matters id will not allow himself to be used by those tricksters is why they are trying to encompass his defeat. ] • 'fpN Judge Gilmore is the people's candi date, and in the coming election it is the People sgainst the Ring and Ring Role .We appeal to the Republican vote McHenry County to assert their rights low. For years these unscrupulous gangsters have made you promises only vto break them, have dictated your nom inations and forced you to swallow am, have farmed out the offices of the county two and four years ahead, and you are now asked to carry otit their iinholy promises. Will you d o it ? If we read the signs of the times aright le people will nominate and elect Judge Him ore for County Judge by an over whelming majority. This is as itshouid and we believe will be. Tuesday's Judicial election was quiet throughout the state, a very small vote being polled. In McHenry county Cart wright, for Supreme Court Judge, and Donnelly, Garver and Fuller, for Circuit Judges, received about 700 majority. In Cook county the old Judges were re elected by clean pluralities of over 10,000, a signal victory for Republican ism and justice. The Inter Ocean, in commenting on the result in this state, says: "For the most part party lines were drawn, the Republican and Demo cratic parties having in nearly every Su preme Court District and Judicial Circuit their respective candidates. The returns received from Cairo to Galena, indicate the same thing, namely, that the Repub lican party is holding its own through out the state. It id evident that the citi zens of Illinois stand politically now |where they did in 1896, or at least, where they did in 1894. There seems to be no disposition to backslide." 3 Owen & Chapell, md#e 4 M M Siesen , police ser --. 5 J Walsh.
