"Going up and down^-the state with Curly Brooks and other candidates, meeting party leaders and plain ordinary voters in every county. I find Illinois getting ready to take her accustomed place in the ranks of Republican states. "When I was Secretary of State," Mr. Stratton said. "I inaugurated the I^olicy of earning and paying into the state treasury interest on office receipts. Doing this, and giving the state's business the same care and attention any successful business man has to give to his own business. I managed to run the Secretary of State's office at less expense to the taxpayers, in proportion to - the amount of business handled, than any similar department was run In any other state in the Union. I believe the people are entitled to have public business run that way. "I hope and expect to. be elected Secretary of. State this time. Here and now' ,1 make the pledge that I will administer the office as honestly and efficiency as I did before. Every penny of public funds that passes through my hands will be turned into the state treasury for the*benefit of the taxpayers." _ "Bill" Stratton, as he is known to -his legion of friends throughout the state, is McHenry county's neighbor being a resident of Ingleside in Lake county. He has always received strong support from the voters of McHenry county and he is expected to poll a large vote on November 3. Greeo St ELMER J. FELLOWS DIES AT ST.
