Freund, employed at the iBarbian Bros, cigar factory during the past few months, severed his connections with the firm last Saturday. The new cement walk klong the public school and village property is sure ly being appreciated during these days of water, slush and mud. George H. Johnson , and family are preparing to move from the James Revor house on Third street on the West side to the Granger house on Main street, which is owned by Mrs. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Wkrren Wentworth who have made their home in the Granger house on Main street during the past few months, moved their household effects to the county seat last Saturday. THIRTY YEARS AGO Wm. Simes has moved his grocery stock from the old postoffice building to the store room recently vacated by the O.^B. Gilbert grocery. The WillingjWorkers will meet with Mrs. Arthur Roberts Thursday afternoon. At the county seat last Saturday, Ray L. Thomas and Myra B. Mead, both of this place, were united in marriage Miss Alice Herely, who last year taught in our grade school, is confinedd to her home at Harvard suffering from Quantity of Soy Beans; a broken ankle, received from a 'fall recently. Mrs. Spaulding has moved her millinery and dressmaking rooms from the Nichols block to the store in Schnorr's block, on the West Side. Mrs. Nichols has moved into the rooms vacated by Mrs. Spaulding. E. Lamphere has moved into his residence lately purchased by E. Carpenter. Chas. H. Granger has moved into Geo. Gage's house. C. V. Stevens has moved into the Raymond house, vacated by Granger. Andy Miller has taken possession of the Jas. Walsh house, vacated by Fred Snyder, and which he has lately purchased. Elisha Hubbard had the misfortune to get a severe fall on the ice in his yard a few days ago, injuring his hip quite severely, and has been confined to his bed ever since. The oldest child of Jacob Justen, a boy about five years old, died on Monday morning. He has been a great sufferer for the past year and his parents have done everything that could be done but to no avail. / SIXTY YEARS AGO Miss Etta Kelter came home from Chicago on Saturday, and will spend a few weeks visiting parents- and. friends in this village. Frank Going started for Wichita, McHENRfY COUNTY LEGION Major General Roy D. Keehn .commander of the Illinois national guard, will be the speaker at the regular March meeting of the McHenry county Legion council to be held at Crystal Lake on Thursday, March 23, it was announced this week by Martin Ekelund, commander of the Crystal Lake Legion. General Keehn is one of the state's best known orators. He is a practicing attorney with a long record of military service. He was appointed judge advocate of the 33rd division December 5, 1922 and in 1927 was appointed major general. Gen* eral Keehn's visit to McHenry county should bring out a goodly number of veterans from all over the county. It is hoped by County Commander Harold Hyde of Marengo that all post commanders will make an effort>to round up a delegation 'of' vets, to attend this meeting. Department Commander Edward Clamage will head his state good will tour into McHenry county on March 29 for a noon luncheon and meeting at Wjoodstock. This will be the only meeting of the tour for McHenry (county. It is hoped that all posts in ! the county will try and have a representative at this meeting. Those planning on attending should get in touch with the Woodstock Legion several days prior to the meeting. Another important meeting, of interest to McHenry county Legionnaires will be held at the Legion horn#' in Elgin on Friday night, March 24 at 8:00 oc'lock. This is a district meet^' ing and District Commander Thorwalcf Jacobson is anxious that all posts in McHenry county be represented.
