Stewart, chairman of the Claims County Poor committee, addraaa^ d the Board and stated that he was recently informed by the Honorable Harold Kelsev, one of the representatives of this district, that there was a bill now before the State Legislature tp correct the law concerning the payfrtent of doctors' claims by the Countv as defined by Sections t4 and 15 of the Pauper Act, and that it was reasonably certain that the bill would pass. The amendment provides for the payment of #ald claims by the townships. Supr Stewart further informed the Board that If the bill did pass, it would became a law July 1st of this year, and that the County would only have one or twa more months of such claims The Committee appointed to select a lint of persons equal to 100 for each Trial Term of the Circuit Court from tha Jury Lists No. S now on file in the Cbunty Clerk's oifice, said Jurors to be •elected for the ensuing year, made a report showing such selections which r^jlott was read by the Clerk. It was thereupon regularly moved by Aaat. Supr. Nolan and duly seconded by Supr. Stevens that said report be approved and thai said selections so made be ordered attached to the aforesaid Jury Lists No #, 4Ad be hereby made a port of this and the roll being called. Illlndis, in the matter of gravelling roads northwest of Harvard. We examined the Palmer gravel pit and gravel excavated where a small lake is being made and the Spencer pit where crushed gravel Is available ftouth of Harvard. We again met on the 12th day of June 1^41 at Woodstock, Illinois, to receive bids for gravelling roads northwest of Harvard. The bids of the E. M. Melahn construction Co of Alf^hquln. Illints, In the aotn Qt $110 per 0u y»rd for crushed gravel from SpencOts Pit, furnished, hauled, spread and maintain •d during construction was the lowest and best bid received and we awarded the Job to said Company. Said work to be performed under the supervision of Supervisor Frank . Book. We met on the 19th day of June 1941 and went to McHenry, lllinls to Inspect the oil mix road known as sec- Hons 24 and S of the State Aid Systelfl, and found same completed and decldt^ to accept them on behalf of Mr Henry County. Illinois, and we ordered a partial payment to the contractor of $5,- 000.00 We then inspected the patching work being done on the PlatSke* B»> ^ll mix road and then went to Richmond. Illinois, where we found the oil mix road known avthe State Aid Route P from the west Village limits of Richmond past the Cemetery to S. B. I. Route 173 completed substantially in Accordance with the contmdt ahd derided to accept same on behhlf Of McHenry County, Illinois. We again met on June t$rd, 1841 and went to Marengo, lllinls, where bids were reelved oh placing about 3300 cu yds of pit run gravel on the east and west Htate Aid Road through the Town of Riley. The bid of the 15. M. Melahn Construction Co of Algonqulun. Illinois at 30 KS per cu. yd. for gravel loaded, hauled, spread and maintained during t-onstruction (the County to pay for the gravel direct) was the lowest bt^ received and we decided to award said contract to said Company We found that the gravel will cost 10 cents per cu. yd at the Kunde pit. We also decided to widen 3 small concrete bridges on said RUey State Aid Road to a Width of 34 feet roadway, same now being 18 ft. Wide. The I.ockwood bridge to be widened equally on both sides; the Ratfleld bridge to be widened 8 ft. on the north side and the John Stockwell bridge to be widened on the south «ide. The County has the necessary 4 •'n l beams In stock at the County Fair ttrunds. Considerable filling would be heeded to width the road ntkee at the bridge sites. The E M. Melahn Construction Co. of Algonquin, Illinois, was interviewed and agreed to do the work by day labor construction Using union wage scale and State approved rates for rental of machinery and the cost Including necessary baokfllling and wldnintr of pikes net t« exceed |58o each.
