That we met nt the site of said bridge on the 4th dny of November, 1944 to witness the driving of a test pile. The excavation showed sand underlaid with coarse gravel containing some boulders.' The pile was successfully driven to' a depth of 11.5 feet below the bottom of the proposed concrete footing, then the'-hamme'r would rebound and the^pile would go no fur- "titer.
