Washable clothes, like shi-ts and overalls, may be dipped in a solution of nonflammabh^ salts and water, and blankets or nonwashable clothes may be sprayed or brushed with the solution. One of th*» simplest solutions for home use is jnade by dissolving 7 ounces of borax aftd 3 ounces of boric acid (dry) in 2 quarts of hot water. Stir untii all the borax dissolves, and the water looks clear. Clothes to be dipped, whether new or old, should first be washed, rinsed and dried to remove any starch or dirt that will prevent the fabric from thoroughly absorbing the solution. Then, the clothes should be dipped in the solution until they are completely saturated. Wring them as dry as possible and hang them in the shade to dry. If ironing is necessary, use a moderatelly heated, not a hot iron. Nonwashable fabrics, like blankets and heavy wool clothes may be hung on a clothes line and sprayed with the solution from a clean garden sprayer or spray gun, or brushed with a* clean paint brush dipped in the solution. Apply solution until all surfaces are well covered. . Then allow them to dry thoroughly., ^ ^ Immigration to' the t. S. By VIRGINIA VALt 1ITTLE Sue Simmons goes into violent action in her very first picture -- shoots a rattlesnake in Universal's "Frontier Gal"; when a child actress begins this way there's no telling what she'll do when she's grown up. The picture sort of pokes fun at the usual type of Western. Rod Cameron has three fights, two with men and one with Yvonne de Carlo. Yvonne slapped him 300 times, by actual count, as hard as she could, but you'll see only 30 wallops; they shot the fight 10 times. Cameron lost 10 pounds before the 'picture was finished, though he's a husky guy; he worked as a sand hog .under the Hudson river, as a constructsn laborer and as an engineer before -he went into the movies..
