Whether' good or bad luck is designated by the appearance of a black cat is still a question iii the mind of Toinette Weiler. While listening to a radio thriller at its most exiting point, in walks the black slinking creature of superstition. The sight of the cat and the gruesome details of the story combined, made this (brave?) little lady shriek and dash to another room. "Blackie" casually followed with one thought on his mind, a nice comfortable chair to lie down on. The following day, "the girl with the' iron nerves/' while riding her bike back from a local grocery store, generously sprayed the highway with broken milk bottles, groceries and herself. A brief collection of what remained intact and the bruised and slightly (?) battered bike were walked home Jby a little lady with a limp--Would a white cat have made any difference ? Stanley Mann, his wife, Jane, and sdn are now moving to Detroit, where his business compels him to stay. The Roger family, summer guests until now, have decided to make Lilymoor their permanent home Their home is now undergoing a complete change in construction. Guests of the Svoboda family this week were Mrs. Svoboda, Sr., and Mrs. Fisher, sister of Mr. Svoboda. Accidental circumstances prevented them the use of their own cottage. A huff and a puff from the oil stove and an extreme abundance of smoke made their home unable to be lived in. Stoves, like children, sometimes act up when leiuit expected. The new officers of the Parent Teacher's association are to be officially installed Friday evening at 8 o'clock. The ceremony will take place right after the regular meeting. This will be a feastive occasion and refreshments will be served. Mrs. Hyatt is in charge of this committee. Second Lieutenant Louella Wallis, recently promoted, will be home for a ten-day furlough at the cottage of her mother, Mrs. Svoboda, Sr. She is now located at the Walter Reed hospital. Mrs. Powers came out during the middle of the week to get her home ready for the summer. Her helpers included her sons. Jack. Bob and Phil, and her daughter, Peggy. Grandson "Butch" also lent a hand. The Meehan family are quite thrilled at the purchase of their new, beautiful residence in Highland Park. They are selling their home in Lilymoor and intend staying permanently in the new home. Spending the day in Chicago last Saturday and attending three wedding receptions really kept them on their toes, says Glady's Meehan.
