Highlights of the evening included the awarding of ten prises. Marianne ! Rogers and "Buster" Knaack won first prizes, with the remainder also going to McHenry young people. A short speech was made by the owner, Bob Hirschmugl, in which he expressed his pleasure in operating the rink during the past year and in getting acquainted^with^local skaters. Orchard Beach Assn. - > » Party Huge Success The narty which was held last Saturday evening by the Orchard Beach association was a huge success. Among those present was Uncle Ezra of radio station WLS. Some of those fortunate enough to win prizes received such rare items as nylon stockings. The party was enlivened by the piano accordion music of Otto Pyritz of McCullom Lake, who entertained throughout the evening. Members of the asssociation are grateful to local merchants for their generous donations and for their attendance, which greatly helped to make the party such a success. These events are held regularly, with proceeds being used for road improvements. * * ' • Hold Gathering , At Salton Home * A gathering of friends and relatives was held on the lawn of the R. E. Sutton home in Emerald Park last Sunday, honoring their guests, Miss Stella Farrell and brother, Larry, Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif. Serving her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. Mary Hettermann of Johnsburg, who wore pink cotton eyelet, trimmed in white, white accessories and a corsage of pink glads. Charles Thompson, brother of the groom, served as best man. The bride's mother was attired in a blue and white print dress, with which she wore white accessories and a, corsage of yellow gladioli. The groom's mother wore an aqua-colored dress, with white accessories and a lavender gladioli corsage. Following the nuptials, a breakfast was served in the school hall for the bridal party and the immediate families. At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, a wedding dinner was enjoyed at Eva's restaurant, followed- by a reception in the evening. The couple left on a short wedding trip into Wisconsin and are now at home in the lower apartment of the Thompson home at 112 Pearl street. Mr. Thompson is employed by the McHenry Lumber Company.
