P. Sullivan, Director of the State Department of Public Safety and chairman of the Illinois^ Highway Traffic Safety Commission, who is calling on chief executives of city and county governments to organise local; traffic safety conferences. This action is a step to implement the program of Gov. Green's Highway Safety Conference of last December. Such conferences will consider all recommendations, of the Governor's conference as they apply to local traffiic problems and are expected to result in the formation of local traffic safety organisations to carry on the work. Recognising the urgent need of public support in maiang the program effective, Mr. Sulivan has turned to organized civic bodies in the state , asking their assistance in organizing and applying a continuum of local activity. livan expects the effort to result directly in a reduction of traffic deaths and injury cases, and an economic saving of many million dollars in the state in the coming year. Ho predicts FHlnois wffl. fcare more conferences and a greater effort than any state in the union. "The people of Illinois cannot ignore the gravity of this traffic accident problem, Mr. Sullivan said "The state's traffic accidents last year account for 1,862 deaths, 5,778 injuries and an economic less of 120 million dollars, according to figures of the National Safety Council. OWN CHAMPION The Quaker Oats company of Harrington has made a state champion record on their registered Guernsey cow, Tiny of Wyland. Her produc tion of 13,941 pounds of milk and 623 pounds of butterfat is the highest record in the state made by a senior four-year-old milked three times daily for a ten-month period. wm't ' ^OPTJLATIOW &iu :i.?p X• - Vu -w ~^Th*r»4*7, OetaW 23,1MT *t wwu r«»tur*..
