WVlPlf I SM& flUuuMMt HTJEL 8HAMR00XS .T0 WIH OVER ALGONQUIN Hugh Murphy, home only a few hours from college, stepped into his Shamrock uniform andpitched three beautiful innings of baseball against Algonquin here last Sunday. The visitors couldn't scratch a hit off Murphy as he cut the corners to strike out six batters in the three inning start toward an 8 to 4 victory. "Sonny" Miller burled the last six innings and was plenty effective except in the seventh When Algoiis iquin pulled into a 4-all tie. Carl Hopp squeezed in the first run of the ball game in the top half of the fourth inning. Miller picked Fitzgerald off second in this frame to avoid further scoring. 1 The Shamrocks picked up a run jn their half of the fourth, then put over three more in the fifth when McCulla lined a triple to left and •Jerry Larkin soared a mighty home run into right center. The game was kept interesting as Algonquin put over thrqe runs in the seventh to go into another tie. Thomas lashed out with a triple to feature this outburst. With McCulla or. third and Jim Larkin on second and one out in the home seventh, the visitors wisely decided to hand Jerry Larkin an intentional pass. The strategy was good, bbt Schuett failed to come up with Harry ddlling's double play grounder. Two runs scored. The game was sewed up in the eighth when Freund drew a pass and McCulla drove the ball into the left field grass where it was lost to the eye of Algonquin's left fielder, 0B&K&1 BY OXO. P. FREtJNDS The home boys put a lot of spirit into their play and put their bats to good use in this game. SAFE CRACKER-- Nobody stole much on Ray """Cracker" Schalk when he was catching for the White Sox; but he ran into six guys he couldn't throw out this week. All had guns. WELCOME HUGH!-- Hugh Murphy is back with ttH» Shamrocks. The way he handcuffed Algonquin batters for three innings last Sunday gave cheer to many McHenry fans. EARLY SUPPER-- H Eat your supper or dinner or whatevier you call it early next Thursday evening. The Shamrocks will play Dundee here at 6 p. m. This game was rained out a couple of weeks ago and the boys want to brintf the schedule up to date. Dundee, from all reports, has a good ball club. McHenry McCulla, 3b fi. Bolger, cf J. Larkin, 2b G.
