Meet With LmiI CttiMM A letter from the fonder Lake Chamber of Commerce was read at the last meeting of the board of Supervisors held last Wednesday in Woodstock. The letter requested according to a motion of the local businessmen civic organisations, and representatives of the various subdivisions, that the county provide funds to pay for a sheriff's deputy to patrol Wonder Lake. The request was referred to the fees and salaries committee of the county board, which will meet soon with representatives from Wonder Lake and with the Mc- Henry Township supervisor, Math Schmitt, in an attempt to secure more information on the matter and report back at the next meeting of the board. , It was brought out in discussion that Wonder Lake an unincorporated area even though it has a greater population than some of th«? .•mail townships of the county where towns are incorporated and support their own police officer. Some of the supervisors stated that they thought the residents bf Wonder Lake should be urged to incorporate as the area is becoming a problem. According to Art Hay, secretary of the local Chamber of Commerce, the meeting with Mr. Schmitt will be srranged in the very near future. At the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, held last Tuesday, plans were made for a Christmas party for ul] the children in the area, from infants all through the school. Mr. l*tiirop, principal of the sehpol will assist in registering the children. Also, during the meeting, Elmer Murphy, reported on the various kinds of village*, towns and cities, : .H the advantages and disadvantages of incorporation. Helen Corey of Woodstock sarved •» installing sergeant-at-arms; Rose Arp of Hebron served as installing officer; and Virginia Monteleone served as installing musician. Louanne Howorka was the singer for the ceremonies. Guests from the County Legion Auxiliary Council were: Betty Duff of Harvard, alternate director of the eleventh district; Julia Feffer, Crystal Lake, membership chairman; county council president, Gail Benton I of Marengo; Emily Cowlin of Crystal I Lake, second vice-president; Anna [Beasley of Marengo, secretary; Launt Steffen of Hebron, historian; and 1 Alto Kelsey of Barrington, chaplain. Cars will be at the Handy ftmtry, at the. Shore Hills Food Shop, at Jervis' store, at'Steinle's at Milbrant's and at Thomas' store in Wonder Woods. If a voter cannot get to the place*, a call to one of thf stores will bring a car to the door. It is interesting to note that this year more voters have registered in the cdunty than have ever before, been recorded. More than 29,000 are listed, with 921 of them from our precinct, McHenry 1. One of the year's most beautiful brides was Mary Lou Druml, who last Saturday exchanged nuptial vows with William Kamprowski of Spring Grove. Homecoming in McHenry caused a big flurry around Wonder Lake as various youngsters on flat committees scurried around trying to get rides back and forth to town. Peggy Selsdorf was chairman of the Freshman float committee and Sharon Grace Sells was the archer on the GAA float. Sharon Grace was also a mem ber of the committee which planned the winning sophomore float. Sally Smale led the entire parade on her spirited horse, Ginger. It will be held at-Noll's ballroom in Johnshurg and, everyone is asked to come in costume. There will be prises fbr the best efforts, and a turkey will be given away. Workmen Lose Tools Tools valued at *450 were stolen from a home being constructed near Barnard's Mill last week. The tools were the property of Peter Olson of Woodstock who. with William Merchant, was working on the new home. While Mr. Corey and Sheriff Bau are working on the case and have taken the fingerprints of two suspects who volunteered to come in, no arrests have been made. Welcome Stranger! It's a fine big boy for Mr. and Mrs. William A. Brown III of Wonder Center. The little chap was born on Saturday morning (barely) at 12:21 a. m„ Oct. 16, and he weighed 8 lb. and 6 oz. Praether of Wooded Shores (Wickline Bay) was a guest of the "Ladies Be Seated" program last week and came home so loaded down with gifts she had wop that her friends thought she had gone into business!
