The program was closed with Mr. Welty playing and all singing "God Bless America." #» *** QUICK PROMOTIONAL PROGRAM ANWOUNOID BY NATIONAL OUA&D At the Woodstock Armory last week, a progressive promotion plan which permits rapid advancement for all ranks of the Illinois National Guard was outlined. Under new regulations, organization assignment in a grade higher than held by an officer qualifies him for promotion after only one year's service, according to Capt. Lemker, aommanding officer of Co. A., 129th Infantry, who spoke to the assembled group of men. Officers may also qualify for promotion by serving two years as second lieutenant, three years as first lieutenant and so on up to four years required in the grade of lieutenant colonel. All reserve, active duty and National Guard Service is credited toward these requirements, he said. , In addition to rapid promotion, Capt. Lemker outlined new and easier methods of obtaining direct commissions in the greatly expanded Illinois National Guard. ASKS $25,000 DAMAGES Charging Richard Landis, with wilful and wanton negligence, in driving an automobile in which she was riding, Zola Ralderton filed suit in the circuit court last week, asking damages In the amount of $25,000. The suit involves an accident which took place on South McHenry Avenue in Crystal Lake, on Oct. 27, 1948, in which the plaintiff charges she was seriously injured. The plaintiff charges that Landis was the owner and driver of the car she was riding in when It skidded, and with great force and violence ' collided with and' crashed Into a tree.
