He brought with htm the ambition with which to meet his dreams and visions. He liked the diminutive but progressive little town. Almost with his first glimpse he visualized a way of life that would be pleasant and satisfying to him and yet it would help to make a little city of this small town on the banks of the Fox river. This young man with the broad vision and driving ambition Was our townsman, Roy A. Kent. I: real estate business by attending the School of Commerce at Northwestern University. He had had a pre-legal course and felt ready to i tackle life's problems, especially | life's most important problem* that jof helping a community to build its | homes. He was equipped for a successful career In the real estate 1 field. He might have chosen some , different road and been equally I successful. His good looks and I pleasant manner With people ! would have taken him far on any I road to success, but McHenry has | benefitted by his choice. In his 'years here he has provided homes, | either through sales or rentals, to i about 100 families each year. He ! developed the McHenry Country 1 Club district. Shalimar on the I river, Hunterville and, more recently. the Millstream addition. | This Millstream addition has given homes to many ex-GIs who were IHnding it difficult or Impossible to •establish any kind of family lives iof their own. In many cases he has supervised the building of these homes. Mr. Kent is a member of. the real estate board and chairman of the toning appeals board, but his interests are not alone in the real estate world. He is chairman of the Red Cross. He. is a member ot the Knights of Columbus and the Foresters. He unites his business and personal interests to make a well-balanced, completely satisfactory life in which his fondest hopes and deftrest dreams hate found realisation. Mrs. Kent ia the lode-star of his long and successful career. Some of his dreams have been hers. too. some of his ambition found its incentive in her encouragement and approbation. She has rejoiced in his successes and has been sympathetic and understanding in his disappointments. Mrs. Kent has the look of a young matron who enjoys her life immensely. She is proud of her young son, David, and her lovely home. David, a lively boy of 11, is Interested in baseball and other sports but deeply concerned with feligion, too--interested enough to Serve as an altar boy at St. Mary's. These are fine qualities to find in a growing boy. He will make a fine man. ' r" Mrs. Kent has a quick and ready laugh. It reflects her enjoyment of life and of people. She has been active in organizing style shows and would qualify as a model herself. She has a fine clear skin, expressive eyes, a good figure and red-brown hair which she wears in a sculptured style that reveals the lovely contour of her head. Mr. Kent thinks she would make a worthy rival for some of our Uovie stars and offers to produce a photograph to prove his point. She modestly blocks this effort. Apart from .the concentrated*interest she lavishes on her family, home and garden, Mrs. Kent has been an energetic worker for the Red Cross. During the war she Joined the motor corps and drove those sick and in need of help to Chicago. She transported first aid supplies. /Lately she helped to register the applicants for the Red Cross swimming lessons. - She rounds out this animated life of hers with a passion f or, gar dentag, a Mve for fishing, and a golf Same that commands the respect f her opponents. The Plaindealer invites its readers to satpfses their opinions in theee epl' Dear Mr. Mosher: i In your issue of it4t, you printed verbatim, a story which appeared earlier last week |;In the Woodstock Sentinel regarding the Markovic accident case. In the story your paper stated tbat sal/ Markovic sustained injuries as^a result of driving "his" car, after purchasing liquor at three named, taverns in the county, namely, Roy-Al Tavern, McDonald's Tavern and The Lake Shore Club. I have no intention of trying this Case in the newspapers, but in fairness to the Blake brothers, the McDonalds and myself, all taxpayers and licensed by the Liquor Commission of McHenry county, It should be also stated tksst Markovic had no car of Ills own; the car involved in the accident was reported stolen to the Illinois < state police, and I was present in the office of the chief police of the city of McHenry when Waller Vanne. nominal owner of this car turned over the only existing key to Officer McCarthy of the McHenry police. I was present when. Officer'McCarthy, in turn, surrendered this key to Deputy Harold Fox of Sheriff Bali's office. . A duplicate of this letter is being mailed today to the Woodstock Sentinel, although I called Mr. Sullivan of that paper on the telephone last week and asked him to print a 'correction of the statement which referred to the car driven 'by Markovic as "his" car. I will appreciate your publishing Thursday June SO, 1049 this letter and in any case, thf facts sppak for themselves. . - Yours very truly, DAN DANIELS. r :• * , For the Lake 8hor« Clttb. If OTIC?
