Mr. Burke is certainly a friend of labor. The railroad which is now in course of completion between Lihertyville and Fox Lake, is to become the property of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway Co. It is rumored that there is an electric railroad to be erected between Sycamore and DeKalb. It is further rumored that it will be completed during the present year. I It has been the pleasure of the writer to have heard very favorable comments on the workmanship of the half pagead of Simon Stoffel. The credit of this work is wholly due to C. D. Schoonniaker, foreman in The Plaindealer. FORTY YEARS AGO The cement blocks for the new business house to be constructed on the west side by N. J. Justen are nearly all completed and work on the building, barring unforseen delays, will be started at a near future date. Among the beautiful new autos that have recently found their way to McHenry, Dr. C. H. Fegers, Sr., has one that will compare with the finest owned by local people. The contract for the laying of the new road across the Wells- Barblan property at Emerald Park has been let and the work should be completed in sixty days. A new summer home on the east bank of Fox river, opposite the Riverside hotel, is in the course of construction. Joe McOmber of Chicago will claim its ownership when completed. "KING" DOES WRONG . The other day, we* were out on a farm and turned over some ground feed lying around under ,the feed grinder outside the barn door. It was alive with maggots. In dry weather this would not have been wet enough to attract egg-laying flies.
