Bwember 22^ 1919 n M# >? fo bit NtvrsFrom Lake UUHllini 111 M MM»H (by Vanesse SeU»} I t r M: 'CfcrisUsas-Card Kn 80S * Fill Wonder Lake Comes again the Christmas aiason, anniversary of the birth jOf Christ, Prince of Peace. Wonder Lake has gone all out this year ;for h()U3e decorations. Against tfce night, house after house looks tike a Christmas_ card. The idea of •ttt-door decorations has caught op this year to Buch an extent it makes me wonder^ whether or not it might be interesting tor all ot the Wonder Lakers to decorate their houses at Christmas; people throughout the county could come enjoy the spectacle. . The Wilhtlm Martin house to Indian Ridge hag about five trees/ hi front decorated, which produce* p charming effect against the house; the P. L. Cormier house is outlined in gingerbread manner by the lights and two tall "candles" guard the front. The Faxell hovse in Hickory Falls has a Urge window decorated with the window box effect outlined. The John Sirtak home sports a irge merry Santa Claus laughing down on the passers-by. On Center Drive (I don't know the householder's name) a sleigh with life- ;:iSised reindeer goes from roof to ground and gives a breathless sf- .foct. The Ernest Meyer house in Wonder Center ig gay with colored lights as are many others. lUnjr Parties Aroand Lake ."ClPMt Ynletlde . * Parties have blossomed around the lake as the Christmas season Is ushered in. The Woman's Club had it's party last week, as did "the American Legion Auxiliary. As school ends for the holidays this /.week, each room will have a giftelcliange. At the Harry Davidson house last week, on Wednesday, the party was not for Christmas, but for tlie birthday of the master. A damask _ spread table decoratcd with deep f.! red candles hospitably greeted , the gue3ts and the trimmed Christmas tree at theo end of the room lent a festive note to the occasion. The newly formed Auxiliary of ' V^fhe R°d and Gun club is doing a J] TSiristmas good deed instead of having a party. They are gathcrs ing food, toys and household i \ ilpecessllies for the displaced persons now residing with Mrs. Frieda Stromski. Mrs. Charlotte Meyer is chairman ot this project. ' r ' TO CHILDREN'S HOWE ""r™* The Girl Scmjts mjuleand filled afitty-six stockings for the Children's Home in Woodstock. Mrs. C. L. Wright and her daughter, Betty Jo, made maiiy of the stockings. The popcorn balls made for the stockings was donated by P. L. Cormier. At the Wickline home In Wickline Bay, Mrs. Wickline and Girl ScoutB Janet. GrilL Betty Jo Wright, and Caci)l_A«lierson, 4j^f- made part ot the balls; and at * the h6me 'ot Scout Cora Jean Henthorne in Indian Ridge, Mrs. Vera Henthorne directed the fashioning of the rest of the balls.-- Assisting Cora Jeah was her Uncle "Bud" Schau (who popped the corn) and Girl Scout Saudi Sells. All of the Scouts assisted in delivering the stocki'ugs which also contained candy and , the troop was driven to Woodstock for phe presentation by Mrs Robert |)oerrfeld, Mrs. Richard Ruzicka, Imd Mrs." Warren Tall man, the SctAt leader. * Earlier the Girl Scouts delivered six bones of toys to the Children^ Home; toys that had been collected at Wonder Lake for the children at the home to play with. The Girl Scouts held their Christmas party at the home of Sandra Sells, with Mrs. Wallace Sinclair assisting in the games. Perhaps tonight., Thursday, you will hear the sound of young voices outside your house as the Girl Scout:* and their younger Brownie , Scout sisters carol around the Lake.
