Anthony Snyder, about 78 years. , i irOBTY YEABS Am* t was with a feeling of saddest ret that the painful 'news annftnncing the death of K Robert Schiessie, one of McHenry's best citizens, reached the ears of our ' people, last Monday morning, his death occurring at the family home on Mala street ' at 8 o'clock that morning. Feb. 14. Fifteen girl friend? of Miss Grace Heimer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heimer, tendered her a very pleasant surprise at her home last Sunday afternoon, the • occasion being her birthday annittrsary. The members of the Ladies' Afternoon club were pleasantly enter^ioed by Mrs. D. G. Wells at her home on the corner of Green and Elm streets on Wednesday afternoon of this week. After all arrived, they sat down to the sr. £?atlr arranged table for a few „L-- ftOcial .hours of progressive cinch. Once again McHenry Council's meeting hall was filled by a very representative .group of members, who were treated to several lively discourses and solutions of many important problems. We were happy to have our friend and chaplain. Father I)aleide»i, present to speak to the assembly. He is one who would have reason lor absence, and yet such ^ his Interest he gwes out of his wtfv tc attend our meetings. This is only one demonstration of this deep interest. Father gave the men ati absorbing description of a retreat, together with his personal, wishes for God's choicest' blesilng on his brother Knights who "will journey to Mayalake on March 17. We hope this little episode will bring many happy memories. DD. Carl Lies of Aurora complimented the council on its splendid representation at the meeting. His talk on membership never fails to register. While the attendance would be considered by some councils as gpod, not so McHenry's. When we reach a point where we have around 75 to 100 members present who are there solely for the interest of the council, then we will feel more satisfied. Another reason which will give McHenry cotmcil a satisfactory feeling will be that time when we can sav we have taken our 300t(.m6rn- 43 ber. This is not a matter of wishful thinking, but a goal which could easily be reached with the great number of potential members residing in our vicinity. How many who read this will make up their mind that they will propose at least one candidate soon. Our new DD. Peter J. Thalman of Wilmette also attended the meeting. This was his first visit to our chambers since we were placed under his jurisdiction. His brief speech was so warmly sincere and full of enthusiasm that it was the desire of every member present to have him wi$h us again in the very near future. So much for the last meeting. Brother Knights. Its all over now except the memory. The turn-out was very good and there wasn't one in attendance who did not go home with a happy countenance. Free Booklet "In a few years, all who read these lines will have vanished from the face of the, earth." That's, the starting lines of a "wonderful booklet --. "What Happens $after Death."
