The Plaindealer mvile* its readers to express their tpinioni in these columns.) Plaindealer, "Public Pulse: An open letter to Mr. Daniels in •ItHwer to his lament of last week. N "Wrst, I would like to point out •that there are seve"n taverns in Lily Lake instead of ten. Then I want to go on record that I am ot opposed to limiting licenses, as In my opinion there are at least three too many there now for such small community. But elimination of. same should b* regulated by free enterprise. -This brings me down to my reasons for answering his letter. Namely this, there are other fabtors which do not contribute to business. Mr. Daniels came to Lily Iiake some three or four years ago and to my knowledge he has pot p elped in any way to help the club or the officers who came and worked hard to keep up to raise funds ' for keeping the lake and its .beaches in a clean and sanitary ^eoiulition. .i We are some forty-five miles west of Chicago a"ad the only attraction that Lily Lake has for anyone, transient or otherwise, is the lake. If that is' dirty and garbage accumulations are to he seen everywhere the cars also will pass »l>n to pleiisanter places. Rut people who live there hav» company. If it's worthwhile coming out that far they, too, like a little pleasure in the evening. Now as for a restaurant license to enable them tp Stay open later. We of the Lily Lake community I am sure could not object to people eating quietly after 1 a.m., but what we do object to is the loud singing after that hour that floats through the air and gives Uiightmares to those of us wfio like Pto sleep after that hour. 1 personally am neutral when It comes to taverns I believe in live and let live. But I want to &>w>il AUCTION ANTON JAG0I»ZINSliI William H. Rassel and William B. Maybe he feels he doesn't need 131 y Lake. But I would like to point out to him there is no one as valuable as a good neighbor. BEG YOIR PARDON Brita Bjorkman was the freshman student who appeared in the recent talent show of her class, not Rita Bjorkman as mentioned in last week's issue of the Plaindealer. State Representative Thos. A. Bolger, a well known local rerident. has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for State Representative. Representative Bolger is completing his tenth term in that position. During bis long^ service in the legislature he has' been active in the support of legislation for the public schools and for the public welfare in general. Perhaps the outstanding act' of his entire legislative career was the effective aid he gave in securing legislation that made possible the building of the Lake County Tuberculosis Sanitarium. In order to finance the biulding of the sanitarium, it was necessary to amend the Tuberculosis Law. At the request of the trustees of the sanitarium district, Representative Bolger went to Springfield to ask the late Governor Horner to include in the call for a special session of the legislature that was then impending, a provision that the law might be amended. Governor Horner complied with the request, and when the special session convened. Representative Bolger co-sponsored a Bill which passed the legislature and became law. As a result, the Lake County Board of Supervisors was able to issue bonds to the amount of gome $250.- 000 which together with a grant of over $300,000 from the Federal Public Works " Administration made it possible to complete the sanitarium. This institution, one of the finest of its kind fa the country, is available for the treatment of patients from McHenry County as well as Lake. Locally, Representative Bolger, through the aid and influence of Senator Lucas, was largely responsible, In providing for city-wide delivery of mail in McHenry. Mr. Bolger states that his campaign is based not on any special promise for the future but rather on his record of the past. RcaCbe Want" Ads* FLOOR TILE ASPHALT and RUBBER also . The Office of the Village Olerk will lie the only office which will receive a nominal fee for services rendered and will be «rovernctl by Ordinance. We feel that sucli a fee is justified because of tin* amount of work which is necessitated in fulfilling the duties of this office. ^ . It has come to our attention that many |>eople l>elieve that to become a Village it is necessary to have sidewalks, sewers, water systems' etc. We . wish to clarify and go on record in saying that the above utilities are not required. Any change or major improvement must be voted upon by the voters of this community, . . It has also lx'en rumored that our taxes would be increased excessively over our present, .county tax. This is a gross exaggeration. Thus far the Property Owners Association has carried on the maintenance of our poirimnnity and the cost has certainly not been where Hear the amount being falsely circulated, to warrant any major tax increase. The McCullom Lake Estates Subdivision has grown to a point w!here the Property Owner's Association is no longer able to carry on the much needed work in this community. We therefore feel that our oinlv solution to our problems will be to incorporate and have eyejYhodyfc share in the expense of. maintaining.our community.. T •v ?
