Christ the King Church The Lenten season is now over. Services during Holy Week were impressive and well attended. The Rev. J. A. Vanderpool expresses in the cot;munity were with us for the first time. The evening Gospel service was a very joyous occasion, with a unique program presented by home talent. There was a male quartet, made up of Linn Loshbaugh, John Christoffersen, Ed Dornbush and Hugo Carlson. They will be heard again. Our youth chorus were there to sing, duet by Joan Dornbush and Annette Glauser, vocal solo by Mr. Christoffersen, duet by Mr. Dornbush and Mrs. Dick Oldran and an Easter song by Carol Jean Oldson. In the fellowship hour, our social committee, headed by Mrs. Cyrus Gabrielsen, served delicious refreshments. It was a day that will live long with us in grateful memory, and all because of Him, who died for our sins and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. This is the heart of the Gospel: A crucified Christ, who In the sacrifice of Himself brought atonement for our sins and a risen Christ, .the victor over death, assuring every believer in Him of victory over the last enemy. We are planning to commemorate the. Fifth Anniversary of the Gospel work here at the Center, next week, April- 21-23. More detailed announcements will be forthcoming. ij Council Proceedings DISABLED VETS MUST FURNISH PROOF OF DEPENDENCY SOON Veterans with service-connected disabilities rated 50 to 60 per cent who have failed to receive additional compensation because of dependency, by May 1 if they desire to be paid retroactive to Dec. 1, 1949. The Illinois Veterans Commission said that many veterans either do not have notice of such dependency? on record or have failed to supply the necessary proof of marriage and children. Where notice of dependents was on record with the Veterans Administration on December 1, 1949, and the necessary evidence of relationship and dependency is furnished within five months from that date, the award will be made retroactive Dec. 1. In other cases the effective date of the award will be the date the evidence (marriage or birth certificates) is received. Gospel Center News It was. in way of weather conditions. a most unusual Easter Sundiiy. Rain, snow sleet", slippery and treacherous roads, conspired as it were to keep the people away from the Houses of Worship. ^But again we saw evidence of that "where there is a will there is a way" to overcome obstacles. The Sunday School program at the Gospel Center drew another record Easter Sunday attendance. It was indeed a capacity crowd, with every available space occupied in our chapel. A fine audience also turned out to the Morning Worship service at 11, when quite a number of friends and neighbors Carb Senrlee Curb service is not aa modern as one might think. In the seventeenth ctatury, ladies used to sit outside Paris cafes in their sedan chairs, sipping coffee served by the waiters.
