CORNER if Mario Schaettgen) Baking Powder Biscuits Now that strawberry season Is approaching, It might be a good idea to learn to make a good baking powder biscuit. Baking powder biscuits may be used in many different ways that it is well to experiment until you find a receipe unexpected guest arrives or the you like. ' „ . ' These , biscuits are a good stretcher" for that day that an first warm day makes you feel happy and generous ands say to a fellow worker, "Oh. don't eat at the beanery tonight, come home with me and take pot-luck." Sometimes this spontaneous hospitality is morp appreciated by the guest and more enjoyable for the hostess, since she didn't expend hours' "Til the kitchen. rf •^; This is a favorite receipei ; -' • 2 cups bread flour; 4 teaspoons baking powder; 1 teaspoon salt; 1 teaspoon sugar; 2 tablespoons butter; 2 tablespoons lard; milk. Mix and sift dry ingredients luto a bowl. Work butter and lard as you do for piecrust. Add milk enough to make a moist but rather stiff dough that can be dropped from a spoon. Drop by tablespoonsful onto a buttered cookie sheet. Bake about 15 minutes in oven preheated to 400-425 degrees. Always make biscuits at last minute. They can be prepared except for milk, then finished at last minute even after roast is removed from oven. They will bake while you make the gravy apd slice meat. Head the Want Ads.- Jum 1" • C.
