Is naturally .unpopular with ijiotortsts, the Motor Club pointed out. Numerous complaints have been filed by drivers protesting "over zealous" operations by police officers and "speed traps". However, <an investigation reported by Stuart B. I Wright, general manager of th^. American Automobile Association Wisconsin division, has disclosed no real "speed traps"? Many arrests are being made, he warns, and advises drivers to closely observe all traffic control signals. signs and road markings and adhere strictly to speed regulations. At the last session of the Wisconsin legislature a law was enacted restricting speeds on the open highways of the state to 65 miles an hour daring daylight hours, abd 55 lfi^p.h. after dark. Speeds through cities, towns and villages are also greatly restricted. Motorists must keep their speed . within the posted limits to keep out of trouble. The warning advises motorists to reduce speeds •in crossing the Wisconsin state line, to "avoid attempting to pass other vehicles and to drive carefully. , Read the Want Ads! VEGETABLE NORTH OF DAMAGED BY 00) Tomatoes and several other vegetable crops In northern sod central Illinois have been damaged by a combination of winds, cool temperatures and excessive rain fall in the past two weeks. M. B. Linn, Illinois College of Agriculture plant pathologist who noted the damage in the northern and cetrtral areas, said southern Illinois might have similar damage, but as yet no survey had been taken there. Weather damage Is sometimes confused with plant disease, according to Linn. But weather damage can be recognized in tomatoes and most other crops by th« appearance of brownish glazed areas on'the lower sides of the leaves. Also, occasional russeting may appear on the upper surfaces of these same leaves. He believes the severely affected leaves wil probably wither and die. . i These weather conditions' have caused tomato' flowers ill some cases to drop without setting fruit. In some fields sweet corn leaves have whitish areas on the wiper sides which look something like frost injury. But Linn Is optimistic about the effect of the weather damage. He says, "Although the injury may cause some worry, in general the jrobiU»U i!r|U he slight. ,, (f. k ' WING AND FIN , Hunting And Fishing Club Offers its facilities of the Dining Room, Trap and Skeet Courses to our friends and neighbors of the surrounding country.
