Girl Scouts McHenry Girl Scouts showed their handicraft at the McHenry county fiair in Woodstock from Thursday, July 27, to July 30. The senior troop won first place for posters and Judy Roesch received a special mention. The Intermediate group was awarded third place for their handwork. Avis Gans, president of the Adult Girl Scout organization, served as clerk for the judging. Luelle Graham and Mianie Green assisted in maintaining the booth. Bertha Johnson was chairman for the McHenry group.. The regular monthly breakfast meeting of the adult glroup was held at the mime of Mrs. Robert Mehr on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Plans were made for a combined picnic at the V.F.W. clubhouse on Sept. 23. A report was made on the cookie" sale. The next meeting will be Sept. 12 at the home of Mrs. Frank Gans. TURKEYS KILLED About fifteen half-grown turkeys have been killed by dogs at Warchal Acres turkey farm east of Crystal Lake. Sheriff Fred Bau said that all neighbors have been warned to keep their dogs tied or confined at home as dogs wandering about the premises will be killed. The f farm has about 700 turkeys and the county must reimburse the owner for birds killed by dogs. Mr. and Mrs. George P. Freund, Mrs. Kate Weber, Fred Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. George J. Freund, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Bauer, Miss Carolyn Bauer, Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Schmitt and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Schmitt attended the wake for Walter Manning at Oak Park last week Tuesday. At the Kurt Voss residence at 20 Orchard Beach about 250 friends gathered during the afternoon and evening to honor the popular couple on their silver ^wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Voss were married in Chicago twenty-five years ago and became permanent local residents only three years ago. However, Mr. Voss has memories of early days in McHenry for he was still very young when his family came to this community. Relatives and friends came from as far as Seattle, Wash., and Mich- ~rzlgan for the celebration. The • many 'congratulatory cards and beautiful gifts bestowed on the happy cbuple testify to the high regard in which they are held. CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mi's.
