Bids were opened and referred to Mr. Thomas of the State of Illinois, Division of Highways. . Motion by Anderson, seconded Iby Rothermel, to accept the Material Proposal bid submitted by -Midwest Concrete Pipe Company, low bidder conforming: to specifications, unit price $1.65, total i $i699.60, immediate delivery, 2% discount. WHEREAS, the Henry has secured the services of Victor Kasser, Engineer, to prepare these reports, : THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVEp. that there is hereby appropriated the sum of Ninety-five Dollars ($95.00) of Motor Fuel Tax funds to pay for the actual cost of the work, and the Department of Public Works is request* ed to certify these funds upon approval of this Resolution." This park lies along Lake MIcUiptD between Waukegan and Zioa, and contains 1,415 acres. Some 1,000 acres of the area are particularly interesting to students of botany, zoology and geology. The- governor's action in forming the committee was in response to a popular desire that the natural history possibilities of the park he fully realised. STATE RESIGNATION Governor Adlal E. Stevenson lias accepted the resignation of Harry B. Hershey as director of the state Department of Insurance and appointed J. Edward Day to fill the post. In announcing the change the governor accorded Hershey high praise for his services as, director since he accepted the position in January, 1949. SHOOTING PERMITS Applications for permits to shoot in Illinois public huntlak grounds this fall are %iow being received by the state Department oC Conservation, and will be aacepted through October 10. The names of some 20,000 hunters to be given permits will be chosen on Oct 11. Only one permit per person will be issued for hunting pheesjpt* on the Cliain-O-Lakes, DesPlaines, Iroquoir County and Green River grounds. Two per person will be granted for shooting waterfowl on the Anderson Lake, Rice Lake. Sparland and Woodford County grounds. Hunters wishing permits should write to the Division of Game Management, Room 121, State House, Springfield, stating days desired and listing acceptable alternate dates. Separate letters are required if both pheatsaat and waterfowl permits are .wanted. HEART ATTACK FATAL Julius Koaka, 68, of Crystal Lake, dropped dead of a heart attack early last Thursday night while returning to the McHenry county farm on Hartland road near Woodstock. He had been staying at the farm home since June. Koaka went to Crystal Lake to visit and is believed to have taken a train back to Woodstock and then set out on foot for the county farm.
