After weeks of rehearsals, conducted by Art Otsen, the thirty youngsters in the choir presented a program of Christmas carols and recitations. Next, Billy and Bobbie Houck sang about "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," Tommy, Pat and Peggy Byrnes earned much applause after their rendition of "Jingle Bells." Pat Kuhne and Elaine Vycital blended their lovely voices in "Hark the Herald Angels Sing." The talented Kenneth Sawdo added much to tfatf success of the fRKrty with his repertoire' of yuletide songs on his piano'accordion. Soon after, Santa Clans himself appeared on the stage, and began passing (Hit stockings staffed with toys, fruits and candies® to the seemingly endless line of children. Having accomplished tfeis pleasant task, Santa departed with a land farewell from 130 happy tots. All credit for the planning and preparations for this year's event Is deserved by Art Olsen president of the Screwy Dozen, Mrs. Frank Poledna, Mrs. Betty Baomhcck and Mrs. Therese Schtflts, the entertainment committee. Pumpkin pie is just as good on any other cold winter day, perhaps even better when there Isn't quite so much to eat:' You might like to try this retelpe which we have found very dependable. 1^4 cups canned pumpkin (some firms put up a small can, just enough for a pie); 1 cup milk (heated a few minutes); 1 cup sugar; 3 eggs Slightly beaten; 1 teaspoon vanilla; % teaspoon lemon flavoring; % teaspoon each of following: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, saft. Beat eggs slightly in large bowl. Add sugar, mixed with spices. Stir until well mixed. Add milk and pumpkin. Add flavoring. Stir until smooth and pour into unbaked pie crust. Bake at 400 degrees for twenty minutes. Lower heat to 350 and bake about forty minutes longer. To test, insert silver blade -- if it comes out clean pie . is done.
