The McHenry Brewing company is having all of its wagons repainted in anticipation of the opening of the spring and summer business. The west side will soon boast an elegant new billiard and ppOl and bowling alley. The new place of amusement will be located in the old "Tip" Smith building. We are told that there is a movement on foot to have James street on the west side opened this spring. (Ed. note: Something went E|rry with those plans. James •ftteet is still unopened.) * Twenty-Five Years Aj§» ; M . ^The trial of the Peopl# vs., Ed- * wMrd Cosgrove for robbery of the West McHenry State bank began in the circuit court on Wednesday of this week. Carl W. Stenger, president of the bank, was on the witness stand Wednesday after- | noon. Last Thursday night the junior class of the McHenry Community } high school presented their annual i class play, "Her Step Husband". With the appointment by the Right Rev. P. J. Muldoon of Rev. Here, Raymond C. Firestone (left), Vice-President in Charge of Research and Development of The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, watches Shaw check the air pressure in the tire after, it had been driven a mile following the blowout, the gauge showing that well over two-thirds of the original air pressure still remained in the inner diaphragm of the tire. According to Shaw, "This new tire completely eliminates all danger from blowouts and is the greatest contribution to safe driving I have ever seen." The new Firestone tire also provides puncture-proof protection. If a puncture occurs no air i» lost because soft, pliable rubber within the tire surrounds {he cause of the puncture preventing air leakage and when the cause of the puncture is removed this soft rubber seals the hole so that no repairs are necessary. They are not to 4unip_it in the woods or on other "vacant property. That so called "dump" up in the woods is someone's private property. and adjoins other property with homes in them. These people have made foniplaints. and it has been taken ^p with the board of health. Signs will be posted In this area, warning of prosecution if this is not stopped. Signs alone are not enough. Let's all do our best to rid this community of this nuisance, and to make this a nice place to live. Also, with the coming, of spring, it has again been called to your scribe's attention, that the "dog" situation 1B getting worse, and why isn't something done about it. These dogs go to school, run after cars, etc., and it isn't only a hazard to the dogs, but also to the children, whom the dogs follow. The president of Property Owners in this subdivision has had many complaints. He owns a dog, so does your scribe, but you don't see our dogs running around loose. Surely, if you must have a dog, he is doing you no good running around the subdivision, and if you really love your pet, you would want him to be at home, to protect you and your property. Be good to your dog, he will reward you and he will be a much better dog for the little time you will need to properly take care of him. Orv if this can not be done, I have been asked to call to your attention that the community leaders will have to take steps to see that dogs are kept home. • Rayon Jerseys Rayon jerseys usually contain acetate rayon, so be very careful that your iron doesn't get too hot.
