Otganize Photography^; - Club During Past YeairV" new club at McHenry high is' the Photography club which wfcs started last fall with Mr. ^Robert Hoffman as adviser. The members have learned to develop and print pictures. They have sponsored dances to earn, money to make a dark room. Tnis year tha club has only a few members bui hopes to increase the membership next year. ' „ BASEBALL TEAM WON FIRST FOUR GAMES IN GOOD SEASON The Warriors started out in fill# stylo as they won their first four games, before dropping a 12-0 {ftflke with "VVqodstock. ' Don 'Freund pitched the Warriors to victory over a strong Barrington team, iu the opener, 5-4. Bob McCulla had a double and a •ingle. McHenry downed Wauconda on the home field 15-5. Jim Kennebec k went the route allowing only 6 hits and 9 walks. Chuch Hiller collected 3 hits for 4 trips to the plate. (flhe third game was won from Lake Geneva as Bob McCulla pitched the team to a 9-3 victory. Bob allowed only 2 hits as he struck out 11. At Zion the, Warriors won another close game 5-4. The game went scoreless for the first six innings, and Freund held Zion to 3 hits. In the seventh the Warriors got 5 runs and 4 hits while Zion got 4 runs. Kennebeck came it^vith one out and two men on but put out the fire with nobody scoring. - The WarrioriT^entered the district tournament in high hopes of beating ^ Woodstock. but. jvere turned back 9-0. Charlie Hiller got the only hit of the game for McHenry, which was a triple in the sixth inning. Freund pitched the complete game. McCannon stnjiek ou{ fourteen McHenry's ft Wi Variety Of Sports In Girls' Program A very interesting pastime in school is the noon-day volley ball Barnes which consist of about wenty players. Everyone agrees hat Joy Carstens makes a good umpire. No scores are kept because different teams are chosen every day. They play three times a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. In hockey, the after-school tournament was won this year by the junior class. The finals were played off between the juniors and sophomores. In volleyball, Joan Nell and Rita Bolger were elected senior captains; Ann Paluch and Ann Smith were chosen by the juniors. The -sophomore . captains were Kate Freund and Arlene Thiel. while Carol Engh and Ethel Mae Hagburg were chosen by the freshmen. The championship jonior- senior game, a thriller and anyone's game until the end, came out with the juniors victorious. The seniors were second, freshmen third and the sophomores fourth. In basketball, Ann^Paluch was chosen to represent the juniors. Mary Jane Gerasch was the other junior captain. The seniors elected Era Unti and Marie Stoffel. Darlene Andreas and Mary Linn Mc- Curdy were picked by the sophomores. The freshmen chose Dorothy Hiller, Adele Schmitt, Roberta Stbller aad Ruth Schaefer. , In archery there are three classes; yeoman, bowman and archers. Over fifty have earned their national rating and thirteen their bowman.
