Harrey Petnoa $hls coming Saturday, folks, is the hard times dance sponsored by the P.T.A., to be held at Club Lilymoor at k p.m. We promise all a good time and prizes to those An their "best rags". Movies will also be taken during the evening. Would the people who drive cars in Lily Lake and Lilymoor please exercise more caution in driving through these two communities. Now that the weather Is warmer the children are out playing and it is up to the drivers to take every precaution and realize that children do not always stay out of the roads. fjf It has also been brought to the writer's attention that fireworks are being used by the children. These are dangerous and have caused serious accidents in the past, so why not wait until July 4, and then, kids, we can all enjoy them safely. The P.T.A. will hold a rummage and white elephant sale on Saturday, June 16, at the schoolhouse. _ 'I spite of the confinement to "P.he indoors because of bad weather, the children's picnic last Thursday turned o»t fine. They were directed in outdoor games toy two clowns, namely, Henry Wojtos and Ivan Gustafson, who did a splendid job of it. Our hats are off to Kitty Wojtas, too, who helped with the games and handed out the prizes to all the winners. The donors of the ic^ream, pop, candy and milk are to be •complimented for their cooperation. Elsie Niemi and Bob Dunn wish to announce their engagement. Don and Marion Leske celebrated their fifth wedding- anniversary on June 4. something behind this, and I want to know why a wrong bill Is being distributed to mislead the pub^c."- pur fight to write a law barring wage discrimination against women got a setback last week, when the house gave it eight votes less than the seventy-seven required for passage. It is apparent that some powerful lobbying has been done against the bill, but as I pointed out during the house debate, the op-, position generally does not come from the large industrialists. Most of them already pay their women employees on an equal scale with men doing the same work. Some plants, though, still cling to a wage differential. They charge the same amount for their products* whether men or women make them, but they insist , on paying the wcmien less. We'll try to pick up the extra votes on the bill this week. The hoiise did beat dowti an attempt to kill a new plumbers' code for Illinois. Since a Supreme Court decision last fall, the state has had no regulation of this trade. Public health demands that we put some license law back on the books, and the new bill should be voted out and sent to the senate this week. We have approved a raise in pay for town auditors, allowing them up to $10 a day rather than The truck lobby won a round ill House consideration of a license fee hike last week. Opponents of the bill which the Senate has passed managed to drag out the* committee hearing and then refused to meet again for another week. A big fuss was raised by Marshall Rep. John Lewis over an error the printers made in turning out extra copies of the bill. They got hold of a House substitute, instead, which calls for smaller increases, and Lewis charged: "I can't help but feel there's Spring Grove (by Mia.
