The Swani conference, which is made up of mostly Wisconsin teams, is going to be disbanded after the football season of next year. The Warriors will then be in the North Suburban conference, which la a very tough con ference. Next year's team will have lost only two men from this year's squad. They are John Lawrence, this year's captain, and Bobby Walters. Because of this, next year's team is expected to be very strong contender In their new conf " Student Council Takes Charge of Many Projects The Student Council is the student organization which runs many of the major activities of the school is representive of all classes in school, and advised by Mr. Anglese and Miss Taylor. The officers for this year were Loiuse Barbier, president; Chuck Hiller, vice president; Darlene Andreas, secretary, and Wayne Dixon, treasurer. One of the biggest projects which the Student Council handled this year was homecoming. As you all know, this is one of the most important events of the year and they had complete charge of it. The night before homecoming they had the bonfire and the snake dance. Then, the next afternoon they held the parade. That evening after the game, the dance, which was a wonderful success, waa held by the Student Council. They also sponsored a record dance, which was held after one of the other football games last fall. Another of the large projects they ran was the paper drive. They collected much paper which they sold to raise funds for their treasury. The Student Council also worked along with the business men in holding the 'teen-age centers which were held at the VFW hall and in the girls' gym at the high school. In addition to this they handled the selling and making, of the programs at the games and also the ticket selling at the fotoball games. At Christmas time they put on an entertaining program for the students and teachers and even managed to get Santa Claus to attend. They paid for two buses to provide transportation for students to attend the McHenry-Crystal Lake game at Elgin during the regional tournament. On May 19. they held a banquet, for the present and next year's members of the Council, at the BACCALAUREATE aolemn procession on Sunday evening, June 1, for the 1952 Baccalaureate program. Jean and Joan Weber played "Pomp and Circumstance" for both the Guest speaker was Rev. Fr. Edward Coakley of St. Patrick s Catholic church, who spoke words of encouragement to the -large class. He cited the errors which have come out of past generations in wars, depressions, etc., and encouraged the graduates to strive for a better life in the future, The school's chorus presented a short program of five numbers, one of which was Schubert's "Ave Maria," sung by a member of the class, Jack Wirt*. Excellent Record Maintained by Tennis Teams along very good this year under the direction of Mr. Fulton. They have done a very fine job by seven out of their first matches. They entered the district tournament with high hopes of doing something. They made a very fine showing and won a few of their matches before bowing out to audi big schools as West Rockford. Elgin and Waukegan. Some of the boys playing on this year's team are, Ted Cartan, Bob and Cliff Walters. Dick Collins and Lyle Davidson. communny In 'you and your llatsmates* - v FREUND OIL CO.
