Van- . essa Sella ** a vary woman. , LaClede, Mo., gave us General Pershing and it gave us Vanessa Sells. There seems to be no point' from which a comparison could be made. Aside from being fellow- Missourians, there seems to be nothing in their lives that could be called parallel. But, there is. It must be something indigenous to the soil of Missouri. It may be that the famo u s mud p a c k s w i t h w h i c h w o m e n a n o i n t t h e m s e l v e s a r e part and parcel of Missouri mud. It may be that Missouri mud „„ .. . contains the secret ingredient ^ " which fosters Eternal Y 6 u t h, which man has searched down through the ages. For General Pershing must have found it; his energy saw him through a long and active life, and Mrs. Sells has certainly made a headstart down that same path traveled by most of those whose impact is felt by the world. Mrs. Sells' great^-grandfather, a publisher, was a contemporary of General Pershing's father and the Sells family cherishes many clippings retailing the doings of the Pershing families. "It is a sad commentary on representative I;;;;j government when more than 40 » >' per cen of the nation's potential > voting power is dormant" he said. £ "I hopes that in the interval be- i -- fore the election both political f .- parties, the press, radio and tele- Z vision and leaders in every field . of American life will do their ut- I » A most to impress upon the people * their responsibility to register and & $ to express their preference in l|i ballot box."
