DROUTH CONDITIONS Long-continued drouth Is bringing water supplies to a critically low level in many Illinois communities, according to Dr. Arthur M. Buswell, chief of the state Water Survey. In southern Illinois several small municipal reservoirs are almost dry. Marion, Carterville and Vienna are' short of water, and at Carbon daie reservoir the water is ten feet below the spillway crest. Low water levels are also reported at various points in central Illinois. The outlook for substantial increase in water supplies during the next three months is not favorable, Dr. Buswell says. Ws.
